SPIRIT ANNOUNCES A DAY OF FREEDOM TO TRAVEL

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - (August 6, 2002) Spirit Airlines, the largest privately-held airline in the United States, today announced it will not be charging airfare for any seat on any flight on September 11, 2002, according to the airline's CEO, Jacob Schorr.
"We are saying ‘thank you’ to the American public and our valued customers for flying with us throughout this past year. Had it not been for the support of our passengers and their willingness to get back in the air after the tragedy last year, then Spirit Airlines may not have survived. We'd like to thank the public for keeping us flying, and these free seats are a token of our appreciation," said Schorr.

"We know that business and personal travel continues to return and it is our intent to fully support that need on September 11 as we have every day for the past twelve years. I want to personally encourage the public to travel on September 11 and exercise our freedom as Americans," said Schorr.

Reservations must be completed on-line at www.spiritair.com with a major credit card and/or through travel agents. Bookings may be made effective August 7, 2002 at 8:00 a.m. through September 8, 2002 or at such time when all 13,000 + seats have been filled, whichever comes first.

Spirit will be flying a full schedule of more than 90 flights to 14 cities/markets in the United States from New York to Los Angeles to Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Any customer who has already booked a flight for September 11, 2002 will receive a future flight credit for the September 11, 2002 portion of their itinerary. Spirit is in the process of contacting these customers.

All the seats are spoken for. They went FAST!

I think on the news I heard them say it took about 8 hours for all the seats to be filled.

Darn. I was hoping someone here could use the free flight for a trip to WDW. This morning was the first I heard about the flights. All 90 flights sold out in 8 hours? Cool.:smooth:

to fly on 9/11. I have a business trip the weekend before and actually had a red eye from the west coast to come home the morning of 9/11. I changed that real quick to be home the day before. Besides I want to be here for my friend who lost her husband on 9/11.

I can understand that, Tony. You sound like a good friend.:) (even if you didn't invite me to dinner;) )

again Browneys. I promise, next time I will envite you over. I'm having Poptarts now - would you like to come over and join me? ;)

PS - I am a good friend! :D

LOL! Thanks Tony.:) Do you have an omelete for me? I want an omelete. Or some chicken noodle soup.

PS - I kinda figured that.:)

the cafeteria downstairs could whip up a lovely omlet for about $17.95!!! They are such rip offs!!!

Jeez! I've got mushrooms, bacon, onion, bell peppers, eggs and cheese here. I might save myself $17.95. I have a can of chicken noodle soup next to me that's been giving me the eye though. I might try to heat it up.:p
