Free Fall into All Stars Fridge Swap- Fridge is Lost!!!!!

Can I offer a suggestion? If it can't be a face to face swap, why don't the departing swapper get the next swappers reservation number. When they leave the refridge with the luggage, they go to guest services and have them attach a memo to the incoming swapper with the reciept number/info they get from luggage services. Or a photo copy of the claim number and have guest services attach it to the incoming swapper's reservation. I might help if the refridge comes up missing. A lil accountablity.

When we left disney last year, a friend was coming in three days later. Upon our leaving, I had them do this with a gift I was leaving her. yes, the item came up missing but with the claim info from luggage claim, they (WDW) found it within a day.

Just an idea when there isn't a face to face swap.

another idea would be to take a marker and putting the inital persons name, address, and phone on the inside...rather large starting "property of XXXXXXXX if found call XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. on the inside of the door where the bottles go. Big Letters. Then there isn't any reason for them not to know who to call if it is found.

just brain storming :)

My contact info is written in permanent ink on the fridge itself (we don't have a box) and states to call me if lost/unclaimed and no one has contacted me.

Another great idea that hasn't worked for our swap. Last August (what is it with August???) the fridge went MIA in the 6 hours between the previous swapper and myself. I had the claim number (which the other swapper had to BEG AND PLEAD to get) and I was told that it was of no help. If the item can't be located, it can't be located and blah, blah, blah about how they are not responsible.....I did make a big enough stink that they loaned me a Disney fridge at no charge. Because all of the reservations are computerized I have asked that swappers leave a "note" in the computer that an item was left for Mr. XXX so that it will flag when the next swapper checks in but it's not being done religiously.

And to think I purposely took on a 2nd swap

No matter what, we need to make sure we keep the box! It's very easy to lift these fridges out of the boxes without tearing it up. Last year dh didn't go, so I had to lift it out myself and i'm quite the wimp to tell you the truth, but i got it out no problem. :rotfl: When my turn was over, i put it back in the box and got a tag from luggage services to put on it. On that tag there's a spot for name and reservation number and some other stuff. THey also give you a piece of that paper, like a receipt.

Our fridge has been naked for over a year :lmao: ! Mousekeeping threw the box out while cleaning the room one day :scared1: !! My poor, naked, lost little fridge......

I just wish I could understand it better. Why has it made it through 12 days in storage just fine but the next time it vanishes in under 6 hours?? The great fridge swap mystery!

Oh no! That stinks!! I put the box up on the top shelf in the closet lol I was surprised I was able to make it fit!!!

Do you think we should put a large note on our fridge box "DO NOT DISCARD" in case Mousekeeping thinks the cardboard is trash and wants to throw it out?
I agree with eeyoregon, we noticed a large language barrier with mousekeeping when we were there in 2006- enough so that our mousekeeper did not understand me when I asked her if she could leave an extra towel. Now that I think about it, if they don't understand any English, they probably will not be able to understand a "do not discard" note. :sad2:

The lady from the shopping service asked me what I was going to do with the fridge when I left. I told her we were going to try to pass it among ourselves via the disboards (she already knew that is how I found her). I was under the impression she would have picked it up from me- I think she should go into the rental business at a reasonable rate. She already comes to property to deliver groceries. Maybe someone should hire her to pick it up everytime there is a lull in swappers.

that would be a good business idea, kinnda like the owners locker set up. someone could take the fridge swap to a whole new level.

I found a little old luggage cart. I will have to test it out, but hopefully it will work for our needs. that sure would make moving it around easier.

Sounds good. I am going to try to dig in my closet again, too, just in case I can find my old one.

No luck finding my old luggage cart.

I received a message today from AZMickeyfans, they will no longer be staying at ASSports so her dates are open. I have edited the first post to reflect the open dates.

I wanted to let you know I found 2 sturdy page protectors and I plan to tape one to the outside of the fridge box and one to the fridge. The protectors hold a standard 9 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I printed out matosfam name, arrival date, resort, and reservation number in large font on my printer. The pocket protectors have an opening in the top for us to slide in the next swapper's information. I am also adding a note "If unclaimed contact....." with my name, phone number and email.
I can't believe we will be there in just a few days!!!!!!

Oh my 2 days and our swap will kick off!!!!!

I know you are excited. I hope you have a great time.

Come on folks we need to fill in some of the empty dates so hopefully it will still be around when I get there in 107 days!!! :yay:

I have suitcases sitting all over my floor- I have to do more laundry tomorrow. :lmao: I have been trying to get DS17 to try to get some outfits together- we just realized he only has one pair of jean shorts that fit! He has lots of khakis, but only a few shirts that match them. I have already been to Walmart and Kohls twice today (they are 20 miles from my house) and really did not plan to go shopping tomorrow.

I exchanged the coffee pot for a 4 cup GE model that was on special for back to college at Walmart. It has a permanent filter. I have never used one of those, so I am still taking the small paper filters in case we want to use them instead.
