:lmao: I am so glad I am not the only one that did that! My son keeps changing our default browser to Firefox and it doesn't automatically log me in like Internet Explorer does- I couldn't figure out why I could not find my PM's or subscribed threads :)

Yahoo! I can have my tea in the morning :thumbsup2 I am as picky about my tea as many are about their coffee. Now I just need to figure out how to get my loose leaf tea to WDW without it being mistaken for something else :)

:lmao:

I have a large stack of random stuff that I plan to take with us- I can imagine how strange some of it is going to look as it passes through the xray machine.

might want to pack it in your carry on so if you are randomly searched you can explain it. :) If you check your bag and your bag is searched and if it takes a while to identify it you might run the risk of your bag not making it onto your flight.

I still am missing some contact information for some swappers- please, don't be mad if you already sent it and I overlooked it in my multitude of private messages and emails!:goodvibes

The coffee pot takes the small basket type filters for 4-6 cup sized coffeemakers. I purchased a package of 200 filters and I will leave the remaining filters with the coffee maker when we leave. Hopefully, everyone can post on here when cleaning wipes or filters are getting low so the next swapper can bring some on their trip. :goodvibes

Oh the coffee maker will be awesome! I *have to have my Kona coffee every morning, now I don't have to worry about finding something to replace it on vacation :thumbsup2
I'll PM you the rest of my info!!

I'm not so sure the fridges are getting lost accidentally. Nor would I blame their disappearance on swappers being lazy.

I would suggest that anyone purchasing a fridge also purchase a dolly and bungie cords, as the Disney luggage and housekeeping people have you at their mercy.

The OP's comment about people "not bothering" irritates me. I was part of a fridge swap this summer. The original fridge was lost, so I joined a group that pitched in to purchase a new one.

When I arrived at the resort I was told that there was no fridge in storage for me. I checked at both Movies and Music. Somehow the fridge resurfaced and was in my room later that night when we returned from DTD. The box had been badly battered, but everything that should have been there was.

The night before we checked out I unplugged it so it could defrost. The morning we left I cleaned it, stored all the supplies in it, and put it back in the original box. I wrote the name and arrival date of the next swapper on a full sized piece of paper and affixed this to the box.

When I called luggage to ask for help moving it (we were in Mighty Ducks and there's no way I could carry it from there to the luggage room alone) I was told that they were busy, but if I'd leave it in the room they would send someone as soon as possible to pick it up.

Despite the fact that both the box and the fridge were marked with names and phone numbers, the fridge disappeared again.

It later turned out that luggage didn't bother to pick it up and somehow housekeeping took it to their lounge, losing the box and all the supplies stored in it along the way. Mind you, there were still multiple stickers with the phone number of the Dis member who arranged the swap. Nobody from Disney ever bothered to contact her to tell her that they'd found her fridge.

My theory is that isn't in Disney's financial interest to support fridge swaps. Fridges are going awol so often now that I can't help but think that Disney is trying to send a message...if you want a fridge, rent one from us. Yes, you'll pay more than the cost of the fridge, but we're Disney and we can make your life unpleasant if you withhold your wallet from us.

Just my thoughts....

I certainly did not mean to offend anyone about not taking the fridge to bell services.

I don't think we can expect luggage services to come to our room to pick up a fridge that they do not own. I also do not think we should leave our personal property in our room and expect it to magically get where it needs to be (at least without paying someone to do it). I plan to walk to the main building to inquire about borrowing a luggage cart to transport the fridge to the main building's bell services- just like we did when we needed to move all of our luggage to the lobby for Magical Express. I don't think we can expect Disney to provide fridge transportion between All Star resorts, either. One of the swappers is going to have to tranport the fridge either via their own car or a luggage cart. I have purchased straps to keep the box secure, but I do not plan to purchase a dolly. If a CM does help with the fridge move- please consider it Disney magic at work (not their obligation) and tip and praise accordingly.

There is no doubt that Disney is renting fridges to make additional money- either to get us to rent one from them, purchase all of our food from them or to encourage us to upgrade to a moderate resort. That being said, there is no excuse for them to discard personal property which is left properly identified for another paying guest at bell services.

Please send my swap some pixie dust...our fridge is missing! It was left on August 2 and when the new swapper arrived August 3 it was gone. She inquired about it again today and no luck. :sad2:

Oh, no! Have you been able to track down the last "fridge sighting"? Here is some pixiedust: for you. I hope the fridge is located soon- your own trip is fast approaching. Perhaps there is a black market for dorm sized refrigerators just off Disney property ;) .

Oh No! :confused3 I will be the first one to get the fridge out of storage i think for out swap. lets hope it goes smoothly.

We will be leaving the fridge on the evening of August 31st because we are leaving early Monday morning, Sept. 1st. matosfam will not be arriving until Sept. 2. I hope the fridge will not get lost in the time it needs to be stored just for a few days- eeyoregon's fridge seems to have been lost in just one day! :confused3

I am glad I will be able to pick up the slack for those few days in sept. I wish I was staying one more night so it would not have to be in storage on the 1st. Please everyone lets try to keep this going for us late arrivals(Jan).

Has anyone had any luck finding a folding luggage cart? It seems when I did not have a use for one I saw them at every garage sale. Now that I am looking for one they are nowhere to be found.

I haven't found one yet. We did have one stashed in our closet, but we think we threw it out since most of our luggage has wheels.

I just got back from a short trip to visit family and YIKES! I hate to think of the fridges all going missing again when they were just getting re-started...!

I have a question/ thought about the exchange process that I wonder if someone more experienced can comment on:

I have seen people posting about sending packages ahead of themselves to be waiting when they check in. It seems that many of these folks talk about sending it a few weeks ahead of time, in fact, to be sure it has plenty of time to arrive and be waiting and that this practice has been successful for them.
So, if the fridge is packaged up and left at the main desk of the resort of the next swapper with all of their reservation info on the package, then why should that package be treated any differently? (Especially if there is only a space of a day or two to wait...) I'm sure based on the opinions and experience of previous frustrated posters I am being naive but I can't help wondering: Are swaps usually left at the resort of the next person? Would that matter?
:confused3

Please educate me! :goodvibes

Hope you don't mind me jumping in. Packages that are sent to the resort are routed through a central processing department and then delivered to the appropriate resort. They are stored at the bell/luggage hold until the guest arrives. Anything that is left at the front desk is taken to the luggage/package hold.

The fridges are being stored in that same hold. I think the difference is that the same cast members see the same fridge over and over again and quite frankly are sick of it.

One problem I have encountered is the fridge being left in the room (which is the case for our missing fridge). A swapper leaves it with their other luggage and calls the front desk for pick-up and then they leave it unattended. So the bell castmember sees a fridge and mistakes if for one of mousekeepings. Mousekeeping sees a left behind fridge and assumes it's been discarded. Toss in language/reading barriers (no offense meant) and a clearly labeled fridge is lost in translation.

The only other time my fridge went MIA was also when it was left in the room.
