Free entry for carers and discounts for disabled?

Hi everyone. We are taking our three adopted disabled children to Disneyland Paris in October. As money is pretty tight, I started doing some research on the internet and found that several people had mentioned that, if you buy your tickets on the door (and do not buy tickets in advance), disabled people can buy a discounted ticket and carers get in free.

As there is nothing about this on the Disneyland Paris website (and, when we went before a couple of years ago, we paid full price), I rang Disneyland Paris to ask about this. At first, the person I spoke to said she knew nothing about these discounts. However, she went away to check with someone else and came back to tell me that this was true: that the disabled visitors would get discounted prices and that the carers (me and my husband) would get in for free!

This seems like an amazing saving but, because there is no mention of this on their website, I am scared that we will turn up there to buy our tickets and be told that there is no such discount. Then, we will be forced into paying more for our tickets than if we had bought tickets in advance.

Has anyone visited Disneyland Paris with disabled visitors and actually been able to get in free as a carer? I would be really grateful for any more information. Thanks.

i dont have any experience with this but i would email dlp for clarification and bring the email with you.

I remember this from a trip back in 1994/95 (I can't quite remember the exact year)

I went on a coach trip with a disabled charity and they were able to obtain discounted tickets for each disabled person and for one carer per disabled person. The rest of the family had to pay full rates for their tickets. As I was only 13 at the time I obviously don't remember if this was because of the size of the group etc.

Personally I would email DLRP (DLP.GUEST.COMMUNICATION@disney.com) and ask them for details. If you get a positive result I'd take the email print with you and go to Guest Services with the email to purchase your tickets. If they tell you there aren't any discounts then I'd buy tickets from Guest Services anyway and ask there if there are any discounts.

Thanks for those suggestions. I will email them and let you know what the answer is.

Cheers.

I emailed Disneyland Paris and received a reply within about 10 minutes - wow!

Here is the reply:

Thank you for your recent e-mail requesting information concerning Disneyland® Resort Paris.

Disabled guests have 10% discount, to benefit reduced-price entry to the Disney Parks, you must purchase your admission tickets upon your arrival on site.
You must either go to the Donald Desk ( open till 1.30pm ) or the Guest Relation Window which are both located at the main entrances to the Disney Parks.

You can obtain a free admission ticket ( for one helper ) by presenting your children's disability cards or one of the following documents:
European disabled parking badge or medical certificate issued less than 3 months ago signed and stamped by the doctor, certifying the disability and stating whether or not they need to be accompanied by a third party in order to get around.

The rest of the party wil pay full rate.

The prices for 1 day/1 Park are:
- Full Rate: 51 euros/adult -- 43 euros/child ( from 3 years to 11 )
- Disabled guests: 46 euros/adult --- 39 euros/child ( from 3 years to 11 )

The prices for 1 day/ 2 Parks are:
-Full rate: 62 euros/adult --- 54 euros/child ( from 3 years to 11 ) -Disabled guests: 56 euros/adult --- 49 euros/child ( from 3 years to 11 )

Also, we recommend you to visit City Hall in Disneyland Park or Studio Services in Walt Disney Studios.
A Disney Cast Member will advise you on access to attractions and will provide you with an Easy Access Card id required.

The Easy Access Card allows you to access certain attractions via entrances that have been specially adapted. However, it does not give you priority access to attractions ( it depends on the persons before with the same Easy Card. This card is only given to our disabled guests ) Do not forget to show one of the documents above mentioned.

We thank you for interest in Disneyland Resort Paris and look forward to hearing from you soon.

I also asked them why they did not mention these discounts and free carers entrance on their website but they didn't give me an answer to that question. Anyway, I hope that this information will be of use to others - it certainly is to us!:goodvibes

We go regularly with our disabled son but we've never bothered to take advantage of the discount. Firstly, if you're looking to stay onsite then the hotel prices without park tickets probably won't be much cheaper at all.

Also, depending on when you're going, if it's a peak time, I wouldn't want the risk of possibly not getting into the park if it's particularly busy. However, our main reason for not using the discount is that we wouldn't be able to use the Extra Magic Hours and for us, the ability to get in before the crowds and do plenty of rides is far more beneficial than the potential financial saving.
