I found this at the slickdeals forums:

www.viking.com is an office supply company (which I understand is owned under the Office Max or Office Depot - always mix them up - umbrella) They run random promotions for free DVD players with a $25 purchase.

This could work out well for those of you that sell on ebay, you could get some shipping supplies and a free DVD player. There's also free shipping on orders over $25, so that's even better.

Their regular prices aren't the best, but there are some deals to be found and even if you're paying a little more, you're getting a free DVD player so it works out in the end, ha!

Those of you that don't need office supplies may be able to find something there to make the $25. If you look under the janitorial section, you'll find snacks that could be nice for your hotel rooms, ha! Also individual packs of coffees, teas, etc. Not the greatest prices but again, you're getting a DVD player too, lol. They even have some travel things, luggage and such. They have 2 packs of neon orange (won't miss that at baggage claim!) luggage tags http://www.viking.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=Q03-2078565F for $2.78 if you're trying to push yourself over the $25 mark.

And for those of you who find yourself burning a lot of CDs, they have HP CDRs at buy one get one 50 pack spindles. Just add however many you want to pay for, and when you begin to checkout a page with pop up that you're eligible for the B1G1 promotion, then click the button to add the free ones to the cart. http://www.viking.com/txtSearchDD.do?searchTxt=M01-V962896&x=8&y=3 So that's 100 CDrs for $9.97. Not bad.

And the code for the DVD player, you have to click the button on the page with your cart to add a promotion. Add QYN-PRDVD At first it'll look like you'll be paying $79.99 for the DVD player, but again - once you're going through the checkout process a page will come up that you're eligible for the DVD player for free and on the final page before you submit you'll see a promotion code and the -$79.99.

Word of warning - it'll try and tell you that they are out of stock and if you would like a boombox instead, then ask you to add, just like the CD-Rs. Go ahead and add and the DVD player will still come up on your order. And according to those who did this, although it said they had the boombox they've all recieved the DVD player. Not to say that if you wait on this that it eventually won't be the boombox, but as of right now they are shipping the DVD player. So I suppose it's up to you if you want to risk it.

I just ordered 2 packs of CD-Rs (so 4 total) and a big bag of Tootsie Rolls, lol. For $27 and some change I'm walking out with 200 CD-Rs, candy and a DVD player.

Oh and one more thing (as if this isn't a long enough ramble) - people have been able to get more than one DVD player by making multiple orders and registering new each time. So if you want to try that, it seems to work. I just went for one. Don't have much need for anymore - this was just so that my cousins could have a DVD player in their playroom instead of being forced to wait til all the grown ups don't want to watch anything on the other TV.

Thanks for the tip, I'm giving it a try. I did get the message that the DVD player was out-of-stock, so I hope it actually comes instead of the boombox. I've only ordered from them once before and it was a similar deal that sucked me in. You got a free mini black/white tv with order. Sounded great but doesn't work worth a hoot. Oh well, I needed the stuff I ordered so no big loss. If the DVD player isn't any better I'll have learned my lesson about freebies from Viking. Good luck to all who are taking the chance!

Thanks I am also going to try

This is an unbelievable deal! I need a DVD player for my classroom, so I think I know what I'm doing this evening . . .

Thanks!

I use Viking all the time at work. I'm at one office site half the week and another site the rest. I ordered each site a new copier and got two new dvd players. The one works great and the other will make someone a nice gift. Maybe I'll order something else from my home and get a jump on another gift idea..Thanks for he post :rotfl:

Does anyone who fulfills the order requirement get the DVD player, or only the first five customjers of the month?

Caution, most cheap "progressive scan" DVD players give a better picture on an HDTV when set to "interlaced output". (For most non-HDTV's the DVD player must be set to "interlaced output".)

It's anyone who fulfills the requirement until their out of stock at which point the promotion code will no longer work.

The DVD is made by APEX.

I had trouble with the first one I received. The DVD holder would open and close but would never run.

The second one has some trouble with opening, but does run the DVD.

I can tell you this DVD player is worth exactly what you pay for it!

Sounds like disneyeveryyear had a similar experience as I had with the bogus free t.v. I got. Did you return the one that never played? Was the 2nd one you referred to a replacement? Just curious.

Kate,

Yes they sent me a label to return the first one, and the second was a free replacement.

It isn't the greatest, but it's in the kids play room, so we'll see how long it lasts.

DVD offer must be over, I tried this morning and it never gave it to me for free, wanted to charge me $79.99 and I also bought way over $25.00 worth of stuff - oh well, maybe next time.

Received my APEX DVD player last night (from a saturday order - pretty fast) and my stuff. The DVD player works fine.

Interesting, in my package of stuff there were two CDs (Green Day and Usher) still in the wrap. They are not liste don my pick slip or invoice and I didnt order them. What should i think/do?

I just tried this and it wants to charge me for the DVD Player so I guess the promotion must be over??

I just got a Viking catalog in the mail and you can get a free coffee maker with your order of $25.00 or more. It has an antidrip feature and reusable filter. Ask for Y03-PRCOFFEE2 with your order (one per customer).

Also, get $10 off your order of $75 or more using code QC3-PRDOL.

This catalog is "Y03".....meaning Y03 is in front of every item number (ie Y03-5016) so you might want to put the 3 digits Y03 in front of every item you order to take advantage of these offers. (I hope that makes sense!)
