Free DL Wi-fi?

Hi all, I searched the boards, but couldn't come up with a satisfactory answer as to whether free wi-fi is available anywhere in the resort. I recall seeing somewhere that the GC lobby might provide some, can anyone confirm this? It would be one less headache to have a few minutes of access on my trip! Thanks!

I called the GCH before our visit in January to check on WiFi. I was told YES! there is WiFi in and around the Hotel. But not in the Parks. I never use WiFi myself. However, my grandkids were on their IPOD non-stop using the WiFi.

If you have specific questions you could give the Hotel and call.

According to the Disneyland website, all three hotels have free wifi IN the guest rooms. There is no mention of it being available in the lobby.

That said, via a quick Google search, I found this statement on another message board site. "I found that in the public areas of the Grand Californian, I could access the Wi-Fi without a password. This may be true at the other Disney hotels as well." No idea how reliable that information is, however.

I'm sure if you just called the hotel, they could confirm for you. If it's important, that would be my choice.

The wifi is good in the rooms and also in the lobby at GCH, I used it for my laptop in the room and in the lobby on my phone.

We also went over to PPH for breakfast and were then catching a shuttle to South Coast Plaza. We sat outside the front doors of the hotel (PPH) waiting for the bus and could access the free wifi there too.

I didn't try it at DLH but know it works well at GCH and PPH.

I found spotty free wi-fi from the Disney hotels in DCA and also from non-Disney hotels in DL.

Gotta agree with gardener14. We just got back from 4 nights at PPH. The wifi was so bad that I couldn't even connect and get a network address. But they did provide an ethernet plug and cable, so I plugged in to get wired ethernet. That worked, but was about as slow as an old dial-up modem.

We were at GCH last summer for 4 nights. The wifi worked about half the time, and the rest of the time it wouldn't connect.

I didn't mean that the wi-fi was bad. I was addressing the question of whether wi-fi was available anywhere in the resort...ie. in the parks or hotels.

I meant that throughout the parks, DL and DCA, I was able to access free wi-fi in spotty areas from Disney Hotels and outside hotels surrounding DL. I remember Quality Inn on Manachester being one of them. My point was that if you don't mind checking your device on occasion, you can find free wi-fi throughout the resort, just don't count on it everywhere.

I made use of the spotty wi-fi service because I found my smartphone's data service to also be spotty throughout the parks. When I couldn't get data service, I could sometimes use wi-fi instead. BTW, I am on Sprint's network, but I recently read the same complaint about data service at the resort from someone on Verizon's network.
