Hi All ~ My co-worker is going to Florida in March and wants free tickets to WDW for visiting Timeshares. Is there a list of Timeshares I can give her?

Sandra

She better plan two trips.

One for the timeshare brow-beatings.

One for the Disney visit.

;)

(Then several more, to stay at her 3 new timeshare condos.)

:lmao:

She will be giving up most of one day to listen to the presentations. And then the rest of the day to get rid of her headache from telling the salesperson "no" a million times. And do't forget that by doing one of these presentations, you go to them. So they have every right to contact you. The "do not call" thing doesn't work if you seek the company out. And I highly doubt they keep their mailing lists confidential.

but if she really wants to do this, I don't know of any list of timeshares. I just know that one of our friends who is cheaper than cheap considered doing this and decided it wasn't worth the hassles.

Those timeshare salespeople are ruthless. We have an older couple at our church (late 60's early 70's) who stayed at a timeshare on a visit to Disney. This couple does not vacation very often and had no intention of returning. They were pushed and pressured for over 6 hours untill they finally relented and bought a 20 or 30 year time share, in 20 years they will be almost 90! These are really nice people and they were basically "shaken down".

I would never visit one of these places unless I was serious about buying and have done some serious research.

Tell them not to do it. We did this back in November of 2005 because they offered us "Discounted Tickets" and promised it would take no more than 1 hour. Four hours later we made it out of that place. It was awful, and yes those people are ruthless. The salesman we had started telling my daughter that "if I was a good mom I would do this for her". I thought I was going to have to hurt the guy. I finally had to put my foot down and tell the guy to give me my discounted tickets, I was done.

BTW: We only did this because we were promised it was not a timeshare. Yea Right. They tell you whatever they can to get you in the door.

I know! I told her it's not a good way to get free tickets....but she is really interested.

She has friends who do it all the time, but asked me to help her find a list of places.

I recommended she just buy tickets, but she's got her mind set.

Does anyone have a list?

Thanks! Sandra

I don't have a list of places... but i think the legal limit that you are obligated to listen is 2 hours, at which point they have to give you the tickets if you ask. Does anyone else of the low down on those details?

I can't, in good conscience, give you any.

Just have her look up "Orlando Timeshare" on Google and have at it.

Better yet, YOU shouldn't do anything more to "help her" in this regard.
She may blame YOU for her misfortunate experience.

Why doesn't she ask her "friends who do it all the time?"
Then she can blame THEM.

Tell your friend that the short answer is "No, there aren't any."

The timeshares in Orlando mostly have free Universal tickets - and usually not very good ones, either (one-day, one-park, only one per presentation no matter how many people in your family). Sometimes they will instead have free dinner show tickets (mostly $50 or less retail value).

Getting a free Disney ticket is virtually impossible. AFAIK Disney itself doesn't even give away free Disney tickets when you listen to their timeshare (DVC) pitch.

Tell your friend to buy her tix but plan on attending a DVC presentation. We went on a DVC presentation 2 years ago, very low key, since they practically sell themselves anyway, plus we got fast passes to use that day in the parks which were great!! Add to it door to door services to the presentation to anywhere we wanted to go after, and it was a very pleasant 2-3 hour experience.

best part is, maybe she will buy into DVC and you can use her points for your upcoming trips!!

1) Almost any place near WDW has "ticket" booths for timeshare offers.
. . . gas stations
. . . souvenir stores
. . . restaurants
2) You CAN get the tickets and not waste a whole day.
3) Florida law says they owe the premium (ie. tickets) after their stated time.
4) If they say a 60-minute presentation, you can get the tix after 60-minutes.
5) You might have to be insistent.
6) They will try to keep you as long as possible to make a sale.
7) But, if you say they committed to 60-minutes, they have to obey!
8) If they give you problems, ask for their license number so you can report them.
9) That gets their attention.

NOTE:
In the past we have done the same thing!
Worked very well.
Also worked very cheaply.

Do you think she'd take "no" for an answer?

After all, she has "friends who do it all the time."

:)

just a thought--try posting your q on the board that deals with off site hotels.

if Robo thinks it is a bad idea, odds are good it is a bad idea

If I think its a bad idea, it is a bad idea... for ME, for sure. ;)

But (as I read someplace,) "Your mileage may vary..."

:goodvibes

But thanks for the vote of confidence.

10) The continental breakfast or time in the rest room does not count towards their 60 or 90 minute allotment.

11) The tickets are (in most cases) non-upgradable. So if your Disney vacation is for more than 3 days, you need to buy another ticket whose first, second, and third days are super expensive and the time share ticket reduces your ticket budget by as little as five dollars.

Well, I guess I have another opinion on the subject.

We did this last May with Marriot Grande Vista & it worked very well for us.

We stayed 4 nights/5 days in a 1 bedroom suite for only $199.00 total. We sat thru the 90 minute presentation & the minute we hit the 90 minute mark we got up & left.

It did not interfere with our vacation & that resort was beautiful. I would definitely recommend it!!

Here is the link to the website I used. Now they are offering 4 nights/5 days for $299.00 plus 2 adult tickets to DW.

hope this helps...

I guess it might be worth mentioning that none of us here discussing this "free tickets/special rates" deal are considering that we might just be taking advantage of the owners and sales people who are attempting to make a living by selling condos.

The discussion (including from me) is always about finding a way to escape in the least amount of time being "in the clutches of the sales staff" and just grabbing the "free" tickets or spending the night at a reduced cost.

As I read this, none of us has the least intention of BUYING a condo.

I suppose that if this is the system, and if they offer, we should accept and go for the freebies.
After all, they will then have the chance to "pursuade us" and that's what the "come-ons" are all about.

But maybe its not such a good deal for either involved parties.

Just another spin on it.

Fairfield/Wyndham has a website, which used to be www.fairfieldgetaways.com, that has tremendous bargains for stays in Orlando, with Disney tickets thrown in. But whatever you do, do your friend an ENORMOUS favor and tell her to check timeshare prices on eBay before going. Then, when the salesman tells them that $15,000 is a huge bargain, they will already have seen the same "bargain" on eBay being sold for $1,000 or less.
