Free Dinning and AP Holder

I am a seasonal annual pass holder. I know that to get free dining I need to book and pay full price for the room and get a minimum of two (or is it one?) day park ticket per person.

My question is must I use the park tickets during my visit or can I segregate the ticket from my KTTW card and save them to use on a day that my seasonal pass is blacked out?

For example, I am planning to go in September when there is usually free dining and will get the package then but use my annual pass to go to the parks. I can then save my two day ticket and go in December when my annual pass is blacked out.

Would this work?

Yes, it's a 2 day base ticket minimum to get the free dining discount. And, yes, you can save those 2 day base tickets to upgrade later to APs. I think a lot of AP holders do just that.

If I have my AP already can I just save them and use them as regular tickets later as well not to upgrade to an AP?

Free dining requires a 2 day ticket.

Yes, you can use the 2 day ticket during a black out period or you can save it and use its value towards your AP renewal.

You don't have to remove the ticket from the KTTW card. Just be careful not to accidently use it in a turnstile while you're there in September.

Thank you both :flower3:

actually, just an FYI, unless they changed it this year (2012) you cannot upgrade a 2-day Magic Your Way base ticket to a Florida resident seasonal pass (or Fl. resident annual pass)

At least, that's what happened to us last year (2011 pass)...we had booked a MYW package with Free Dining, bought the tickets with package as required and our first day went to Epcot Guest Services to upgrade the MYW tickets to Fl resident annual pass. We were told you cannot do that...can only upgrade regular base tickets to regular annual passes.

If we had Florida resident day-tickets (like the Florida resident 3-day tix they advertise on Fl. television) well, we could upgrade those to Florida resident annual or seasonal ...but MYW tix could only be upgraded to regular annual passes. Now, I was soooo disappointed at this info, the CM did disappear behind to the back-office for about 10 minutes...and came out telling me they had made a one-time exception and did allow us to apply the MYW tix towards price of Fl resident passes.

Or that CM went behind the desk and found out he was misinformed. I don't think there is any way for a CM at the parks to differentiate between a 2 day base ticket that is or is not part of a Free Dining package. Those tickets aren't flagged with some kind of free dining verbage. I've never seen this issue posted on here or any other Disney blog or planning site. You may want to message the ticket guy, CheshireFigment and ask him to clarify/verify this.

I'm going to hijack a bit here because my question is very similar and I'm looking through threads for the answer. I'm not booked for anything YET...always planning planning planning :teacher:.

I want to buy a Premier AP. IF I book a pkg to get DDP (not during FP), I understand I'll have to purchase one day tickets, right? I do want to go to customer service and have the ticket portion removed from my KTTW card. Then I want to give another family those base tickets. Can I do this?

If you have not bought your Premier AP then why not just credit the cost of your MYW tickets in the package towards the cost of the Premier AP? We did just that on our recent visit.

I'm note sure about that one yet. My first use of the Premier AP may be at DLR or my first use may be at WDW but staying off site. I do plan to make a few multi-family trips though and want to know if I'll be able to do this. What if I go more than one time onsite and want the DDP, this option won't help me on my second visit. I think I'll have to visit an AP thread to get a bit more help. Thanks
