Free dining!!

I just HAD to share this with fellow DIS-ers because I knew you'd understand my excitement!

I'm fairly inexperienced at WDW trip planning, but I'm a Disney fanatic. Our first experience with free dining was about 6 years ago, and we haven't been able to go since (partially because we had a child). A couple of months ago, we took a chance and booked the same time of year as our previous trip in HOPES that free dining would pop up again -- and we just found out it DID!! We would've been able to afford it either way, but it's just a big help.

On TOP of that, we've only been able to afford value resorts for ALL of our Disney trips.. but because of the way the free dining promotion worked this year, we were able to switch to Caribbean Beach (for 4 people for 5 nights) for less than $200 difference!!

I'm over the MOON about this, but I'm in over my head because I REALLY don't know what to expect at Caribbean Beach. Any advice or tips for the resort would be greatly appreciated!!

I can share in your excitement as it brings back memories from when we were able to book with free dining and we too were able to upgrade to a moderate resort! Unfortunately, back then we stayed at the POFQ and we have never stayed at Caribbean Beach so I cannot lend any advice or tips. I do believe that it is spread out between several different islands. Depending on which section you stay in will determine how close you are to the food court. I am certain you would get some good information on the Resort boards!!!

Congrats!! We were planning on going this fall as well and crossing our fingers for FD, so I can totally share your excitement!

I have never stayed there, but Caribbean Beach is my friends favorite resort, I am sure you will love it!

I have been to WDW 4 times and CB was my favorite place to stay. We got a preferred room in Martinique. It still was a bit of a stroll to the food court and pool. I got up really early one morning to run and it was so peaceful. I loved that there was a quiet pool and laundry in each section. When we stayed at POFQ, I did laundry on a rainy day and had to haul the stuff a long way in the rain. At CB, the laundry was just around the other side of our building. There are little beaches with lounge chairs and playgrounds. There is also a playground in the center of the grounds. We rented bikes one afternoon, but you are limited as to where you are allowed to ride them. They had pool games in the afternoons for the kids, which we were able to take advantage of once.

We could see our bus stop from our door. It was a short distance across the parking lot. That was nice at the end of a long day.

Yay! We are so excited because we get to go and have free dining in Nov! We will stay at Pop to keep cost down, since we're cruising four months after. I am just happy to be there!

I believe I heard the 7th, but there is a long thread on the resort board with the first post having all the information.
