I have rented points from a DVC owner for August 10th-August 18th. I believe there is free dining for the last 3 days of our trip. Is there anyway that we can take advantage of this? I'm really not sure how this works.

Not sure but don't think you can.
I have a nov trip booked and free
dinning has been extended. Our dates
are in the blackout zone. Very disappointed!!!

You can only book the free dining with a 6-day MYW package with 6-day tickets....so no, you wouldn't be able to add it on to your existing DVC point vacation.

From the website:
"Book a Walt Disney World vacation package that includes a 5-night, 6-day stay at a Walt Disney World resort and a 6-day park ticket, and receive the Dining Plan for free! "

Unless they have changed something for the free dining extension* (which is possible, I didn't check it out), you only need to purchase a two day ticket to get free dining. What Tara quoted above is just the example they use for the price they show on the website.

But to the original question - correct - no free dining with DVC points stays, only with the purchase of a package (room+tickets) meeting whatever Disney has established as the minimum requirement for the offer.

*just realized that comment wasn't relevant since the OP's trip dates are in the original free dining time frame.

LOL - duh - I didn't even realize that was an example for a 6-day pkg - I'm sure you can get a 3-day or 4-day pkg or whatever...but for the OP it won't be of any value to add an entire full price pkg onto 3 days of a trip that's already paid for with points!

No, you can't get free dining with a DVC points stay.

Free dining is a resort + ticket + meal plan package discount for resort guests. DVC members (or those renting points from them) already get a "discount" by having off-peak periods cost fewer points per night/week than peak periods.

Although the wdwinfo page says you need to get a 6-day ticket, the Disney web site will let you do it with a 2-day ticket, at least for the standard plan and a moderate-or-above room.

DVC stays on points do not qualify for free dining. To get free dining, you have to get a qualifying undiscounted room+tickets package from Disney. It isn't really "free" - you're paying full price from the room.

To pay cash for a DVC villa costs a LOT more than the price you are likely paying to rent the points.

I just wish we could at least get a discount on the dining during free dining periods...

You couldn't get FD for those dates not matter what. The deal goes by check-in date. Since your check-in date is not during FD, you could not apply the offer.

3 night minimum on package, not 6...though I'm sure Disney would love for most people to think they have to book 6 of everything:laughing:
