Free Dining with a Split Stay?

Currently we have reservations for a split stay at AKL and WL for January 09.
I am wondering what would happen if we DO get really lucky, and they offer free dining during our travel dates? I am thinking that to take advantage of this (hypothetical) offer, we would need to change from our room-only reservations to a MYW package for each segment of our trip. Is that right?

In that case, we would be paying a lot more for the MYW tickets (since you save more if you stay longer, but only at the same resort, right?), and the free dining would not be worth it. Does that sound right?

So, if we wanted to really take advantage of a (hypothetical) free dining, we'd need to change to one resort for the entire time?

Or you could buy the first tickets for the length you want them, and 1 day tickets for the 2nd part. Don't use the 2nd set but save them for a future trip and then upgrade them. It will cost you $75 per person more than you were paying for tickets but with free dining on both parts. This is making the huge assumption it will even get offered tho

See, now THAT's why I asked here. I knew there was something I wasn't thinking of! Thank you for your input.

(Yes, I know it's a huge leap of faith to think we might get free dining in Jan, but I figure it's Disney and I can sure dream, can't I? Not expect it...not at all...but just dream!)
