I know that everyone in our room must purchase a one-day Magic Your Way ticket to qualify for the free dining promo.

My question is whether the guests who need tickets can upgrade their MYW tickets to get the number of days they need.

IOW, can I book the room with everyone getting a one-day MYW, then add the days we need to the passes where they're needed?

Yes and you can upgrade those at the resort. Remember everyone on the pkg will need at least the 1 day ticket.

Thanks for the quick reply, wdwmaw!

You sound like you know what you're talking about. So let me see if I have it right.

I should book the room with one-day MYW tickets for each person in our room. The person with the one-day MYW should probably hang onto his ticket either to use when he renews his AP or for a future trip without one.

Then the other three people in our room would upgrade their MYW tickets for as many days as they need.

Am I correct?

Also, if the people who don't have the AP want to make their MYW tickets park hoppers, we can do that, right?

That's what I normally do:
Get 2 1-day tickets in my package
Upgrade 1 to the number of days we need and PH
the other I use to upgrade my AP.

You are correct. I have an AP also and have done this the last three Septembers. When you check in you will receive your room keys with the one day MYW ticket on them. Go to guest services in your resort, they will upgrade all the one day tickets to whatever that person needs. Just make sure the AP holder never uses his room key as park admission. As long as he never puts it into a turnstyle that one day ticket is good forever and he can use it next year to upgrade to an AP. In fact if he wants, he can go to guest services at a park or DTD on his last day (after all the meal credits are used up) and have them pull the one day ticket off of the room key and they'll give him a one day MYW mylar paper ticket (or he can just mark what is on the room key and save it).

The only thing is, if someone with a one day ticket wants to upgrade to an AP, the guest services at the resorts can't do that. He will have to go to any guest services in any park or at DTD to do that. Resorts can upgrade a one day ticket to anything else though, (including park hoppers, water parks and more option, non expiring, etc)

Thanks - that's very helpful info! One other question - what do you do if you renewing an AP? How do you use the 1-day ticket to renew - where do you go to do that if you don't happen to be at Disney when its up for renewal?

This is exactly the scenario I came on here to ask about. I'm considering purchasing an AP due to me going in June with a friend and then a possible mom/daughter trip in Sept for free dining. It works out cheaper than 2 length of stay passes if we do both trips in my AP year.

So do I have this right: I could book the room with 1 day base tix for both of us and get free dining? She can upgrade her KTTW card to a 6 day PH at the resort and I hold onto my 1 day base ticket to use some other time.

Thanks for your help. I hope to get this all straightened out by Thurs morning!

NJ Girl ~ you are correct. Just hang onto that one day for future use and after you check in then go to concierge desk and add days, park hopping or waterpark.

Lureen ~ yes you are correct. Sorry I did not respond as I was at work and I just check ever so often.

Hi, both our AP's will expire before we return to Disney in September. We just booked the free dining with one day base tickets. Now I know we are not to use these until the last credit of our dining package is used that last day, but I heard it might be possible to take the 1 day tickets to a guest relations window at the theme parks and see if they could apply them to our new AP's and still use the card for our dining privileges. Has anyone done this successfully?
Thanks for any help.

You can upgrade them before. I did this 2 years ago, with no problem. I'll be doing it again this year, as when I arrive my AP will be expired.

So.....I have an AP, dh has a non-expiring 10 day hopper, but dd needs park passes, so I booked our package with 3 one day passes. This way, dd can use those, in addition to a 2 day after 2 pm park pass we got as part of a conference. But, each one of those one day park passes will be on each persons room key, so dd will have to use a different room key each day? Is it possible to get all the one day passes put on one room key?

No as they are 3 1-day tickets. they will all be on different tickets, and while you can have them removed from the room key it's much easier, just to have her use a different card each day.

Just to be clear. I also have an AP that will be up for renewal in September. If I purchase a one day MYW ticket, I can then use that ticket as a credit to renew my current AP?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know?

Okay so I have an AP - when I check in they will give me my KTTW card with a one day ticket on it...I then have to go on another line at Guest Services in my resort in order to upgrade the rest of my families tickets to the 7 days they need? This sounds like its going to be a long time to accomplish.....and I need to plan for that. Or can the check-in person upgrade their tickets?

Then at the end of the trip I need to go back to guest services to pull my one day ticket off my room key? This is because it needs to stay on my room key until my dining credits are all used....correct?

1)I don't know if they can do it at check in, but it doesn't take very long. It took about 5-10 minutes to upgrade 1 ticket and add about 1 minute each for the others.

2)You can pull your ticket off at the beginning. The CM that does it for you, will just have to do a little magic to make the credits still work. I've never pulled my ticket off my room key; I leave it on the room key and write 1-day ticket on it. (I keep better track ofit that way)

Thanks....we are arriving the first day of free dining at Pop and I have a feeling it will be bedlam and there is no way around it...we HAVE to check-in in order to get our tickets and dining credits. The way the post sounded I would need to wait in line to check-in for our room and then go on another line to get our tickets in order....just trying to save time. Thanks again.

Just a word of caution: if any one with the MYW ticket wants to upgrade to an AP, DO NOT DO IT UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF YOUR PLAN. Otherwise, it will cancel out everything--even your room key. Yes you can do this, just don't do it before the last day of your trip.
