Free Dining What is it?

Can someone please inform me what this free dining is all about. Also what is the Disney Dining Plan? DH and I have the Disney Dining Card but I believe this is not the same thing.

Look under the restaurants board, I think there is a sticky thread with all the info about the dining plan. I think you had to book by August 20th though, to get the free dining promotion, so unless they extended it you may be out of luck. Still sounds like a good deal, even if you pay for it.

Thanks DebbieB and Can'twait I now understand. It looks like a great deal for a family who would plan on eating at the parks everyday. DH and I usually spend a lot of time eating in our rooms. We do get one snack per day and one or two meals during our stay in the theme parks. So it wouldnt really work for us. Thanks again
