Free Dining watch September 2017

Did "free dining" once.

It saved a few bucks but we felt like we were a prisoner to the ADR. It was too much food as well - felt wasteful.

Will never do it again.

That's why it's great they offer a variety of packages! Feeding two teenage boys and staying at a moderate resort, there's no deal that comes close to beating Free Dining for us! And we consider a nice sit-down meal once a day as part of our vacation experience!

Free dining works great for us too, whether it's too much food or not! How can you beat free meals, I would imagine it would save hundreds of dollars! Has anyone ever kept a count of how much they would have spent had they not had the free dining? I might do that this time our of curiousity (if it's offered)!

I've tried... but I've never actually done the whole tracking thing. I'm sure I've saved money (especially since it's free!) but I wouldn't have spent as much. I don't often get desserts (not that the QSDP has them anymore) and I usually would get tap water to drink, so it would have been cheaper than the amount. It's still a fun thing to track though!

For those with the Disney Visa card - whenever it was released early for card holders, do you recall what the requirement was? Did you need to pay the deposit amount on your Disney Visa card? We are already booked for late August, but are hoping for free dining with a Disney Visa early access. Are we going to have to cancel and re-book with our Disney Visa card or can we modify our reservation and just make a $200 payment on our Disney Visa card?

According to Mousesavers.com it was released April 25th last year so most likely it will be around the same time.

You can call to modify your current reservation. You just have to use your Disney visa to play at least $200 on the reservation.

Totally agree. Come May we will have 3 teen boys. This is the only way we can afford Disney! :)

Thank you. It has to be done via phone, yes? Or can it be done online through MDE?

Am I the only one getting anxiety over it? Haha.

We are booked at Poly Sept 17-23rd. Four days of park hoppers with a regular dining plan. I need April to be here. That way I can hopefully get FD and bevause that'll put me that much closer to our trip! ::MickeyMo::MinnieMo

Anyone know if you can call and modify someone else's existing reservation? We are traveling as a group and have 3 separate reservations - 1 in my name, 1 in SIL's name for her family, and 1 in MIL's name for her family. I've been handling everything because they have never been before, so I would have to be the one to call and convert the reservations to free dining (if its available of course!). Will Disney give me trouble since I'm not on their reservations? FWIW, all 3 of them are linked and we're linked in MDE.

I was able to call and change mine and my sister's reservation with no problem.
