Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

Wait.....
I don't understand..........
I didn't think that we could use both the 40% off AND free dining. I thought we had to pick either one or the other. I have a 40% off pin that Disney sent me via email. It expires on March 31. I have held on to it, but I didn't plan to use it since we normally stay at a value resort. In that case, free dining is the better deal. If I book with the 40% off pin and add dining, can I call back and get the free dining WITH the same 40% off rate?
I might be misunderstanding you. If so, I am sorry. I thought you were saying that you could get the 40% rate WITH free dining if it comes out.
If that is the case, I am calling to book it now!

Thats what the guy told me...but thats if Free Dining just comes out like it does every year..not the pin that you get in the mail with another offer..thats the impression I got. I said "If Free Dining comes out can I just call you and you can deduct the cost from my reservation?" He said "Yes.".

That being said, I would call and reconfirm if I was you before I booked. I'd be anxious to get that reconfirmation myself. :thumbsup2

Sorry, but you cannot use two discounts at the same time. So, if you switch to FD (should it become available), you will be paying rack rate for your rooms and forfeiting your 40% off room rate.

Just checked with my nephew again - he is pretty clear he got BOTH. However, he has been known to "embellish" in the past, so I'm going to rescind the previous post so as not to give people false hope. So sorry!

I would think that he received TWO separate offers - one for FD and one for 40% - but he can't use both of them together.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could combine offers?!?! It would be soooo easy to convince dh that we needed more WDW trips that way! :rotfl2:

I got both pins also...decided to opt for the 40% off since we are going to CSR and there are only 2 of us...the 40% saves us more $$ than the free dining...plus with the Free Dining deal, you dont have park hoppers..just the single park per day tickets..

Yep, we were lucky enough to get a 40% pin too - that's what we're currently booked with at ASMu. FD would save us a whackload more money though (for our 7-night preferred stay at ASMu, we're saving just over US$300, but FD would save our family of four about US$910 - gee, hard choice for us :rotfl2:). Here's hoping for FD - we'll have to forfeit the 40% room discount, but we'll still end up saving about US$600!!!).

I'm not sure about the park tickets though - I know you have to have a MINIMUM one-day single-park pass to get the FD on your package, but I'm sure you could easily just upgrade the tickets to include whatever you'd prefer (PHs, non-expiry, etc.). Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken :upsidedow

Thanks for the posts and clarifying. I didn't think that we could have both offers. That would be too good to be true! ;)
I will continue to hold on to the pin and wait for free dining. I am expecting it be released soon. (We have booked our previous free dining trips in April.)

Can I just say that every time I get an email that says "Free dining watch" from this thread I keep thinking it's THE POST saying it's being offered? Is anyone else as anxious as me? LOL!!:rotfl:

I just booked with a 40% off pin for CSR from 9/24-9/29...added the dining package..now I'm hoping that they offer free dining. The CM said that I could deduct the cost of the dining if/when it was offered..

That will give my DW a few more Disney Dollars to spend at the "Days of Christmas". :scared1:

If you want free dining, you will have to give up the 40% off...they only allow one or the other.
(wasn't sure if you realized that by the wording of your email)
Just didn't want you to be too disappointed when they told you.:sad1:
HTH

****NEVER MIND---I RESPONDED BEFORE I REALIZED YOU HAD ADDRESSED THIS!****

Please forgive me if this is a redundent question...

If I book a package now with 40% off and then the FD comes available can I keep my same reservation and have them adjust it to full price with FD? Or do I have to cancel my first package and book a new one with the FD?:confused3

TIA

Not sure "announced" means the same thing as open for booking. What they usually do is announce the date upon which the free dining promotion will be open for booking. For example, in March there is usually an announcement made by WDW that free dining will be available for booking, say, on April 1 for Disney Visa holders and April 4 for everyone else.

If you book a package reservation (with tickets) you would be able to change it to a free dining package as long as free dining packages are still available at your resort on your dates. No other discounts on the room would be applicable if you choose free dining. If you book a room only reservation, it will have to be cancelled and rebooked as a package. If you know you want free dining it would probably be best to book a package if you want to book a room ahead of time.

If, at the time you call, free dining promotion rooms are sold out at the resort you want for the dates you want, you'll probably have to switch resorts or dates to get the dining.

I hope that helps :goodvibes

You are correct. We got free dining last year and had 6 day hoppers.

No problem and you're very welcome :thumbsup2

All of this waiting is killing me. It seem like every free momet I get I'm checking to see if FD has been announced yet... I hav a DV but have never been notified in the past about FD, so I'm not leaving it to chance, I'm checking like a crazy woman!!!!!

Generally last week in Aug into Sept.

But unless the economy takes a major nose dive never in the first week in Aug. Though they may still be offering the buy 4 days get 3 free.

Thank you I appreciate your response!:goodvibes To those of you who I offended by asking a redundant question I apologize! My time is limited so I saw no harm in asking a quick question-much like the many I have answered in the past for my DIS friends!:confused3 Im just here to share the magic :wizard: along with the majority of the other Disers here!

Aww, never mind the less-than-magical responses! You're absolutely right - most people who ask "redundant" questions in one forum have answered MANY redundant questions in other forums, without being snippy about it kwim?

I don't know what your question was, but I'm glad it was answered! :thumbsup2

regarding all the questions about park tickets in your package for free dining..
last year, I went with my two friends. I had an annual pass, so I didn't need any park tickets ( I was also a CM at the disney store at that time, right before disney took back over and then we closed, I got 3 one day park tickets.) so what we did, was book the package as the room + one day base tickets for each of us. then I gave my friends each two one day tickets ( the three I got as a CM and the one I bought for myself for the package) then when we checked in, they just upgraded their passes to 6 day park hoppers...
does that make sense??? My travel agent assured me that you HAD to purchase at LEAST one day tickets for everyone in the party. AND.. everyone in the party has to have the same tickets booked with the room. once you get there, they don't care what you upgrade to.
hope that clarifies the ticket question

Anyone hear anything about NOv yet- I know that last year they had a deal going in Oct, Nov, and Dec--hope it happens agian this year!
