Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

When has the free dinning been offered in the past? My DH just told me he will have the first week in Aug off. We thought maybe we would come down to Disney. We are concerned about the heat though. Thnks Nettii

Just got off the phone with Disney. Asked about a PIN code. Despite signing up for Disney DVDs the last few years, joining the Disney Movie club, (and just about anything else I could find) and going to Disney last October....they didn't have my e-mail address. So I gave them 2. One for me and one for DH. Hopefully that will get me in the system.

As far as free dining...I asked and his answer went something like this....

"I'm sure they will. I mean, it's not confirmed, but they've done it the past few years, and the way it's been this year, I'm sure they will. But I mean, it hasn't been confirmed. Keep checking the website under Special Offers, because it'll be there soon, or you can just call us and we'll tell you, I mean, it hasn't been confirmed...."

So, I'll just keep checking.

Generally last week in Aug into Sept.

But unless the economy takes a major nose dive never in the first week in Aug. Though they may still be offering the buy 4 days get 3 free.

I'm holding out for the free dining. With 4 of us going it's WAY better than the 4/3 deal. And we really can't be gone 7 days. It really is a very limiting kind of a deal.......

So this confuses me. When they offer free dining to the public, will it be like the 4/3 or will you still have to receive a pin code to get it?

And, I'm going to be there in May. Should I book my Sept vaca anyway to get the bounceback savings and change it if free dining is offered?

I've been going there multiple times for the past few years and have yet to receive a code that is significant. Guess they know I'll be back no matter what.

There are two separate things: Pin codes, which are only available to the person whose name is attached and are non-transferable,
and General Public codes, which are available to anyone.
General Public codes are like having a coupon at the grocery store, and are not hard to find or get. No secret there.

When free dining comes out, if it is for the general public, you will be able to get it. If you can't find the code (which, you will be able to as it will be all over here and mousesavers.com and on the Disney website), the CM will usually help you anyway.

If there is free dining, you will know before your May trip. In all but '05 (which was June), they released the code in April.

Happy planning! :wizard:

Thank you DisneyMom!

I've never paid attention to this as I used to have AP's and it didn't apply to us.

You've been MOST helpful!!!

Read all the way to page 13.

Amazed at the number of people who asked-- when will the deal be announced- or asked-- what are the dates of free dining.

(all of which are answered more then enought)

Do people not read all of the postings--- or just read the first one and post their questions?

Ok, now I have another question, lol!

If we find out in April that there is free dining and I'll be there in May. How do I work it so that I get bounceback and free dining? Book it all when I get there or book the free dining in April and switch to bounceback + free dining once I'm down there? Are there limited rooms available with free dining?

You cannot apply two sales to one trip package.
It would be like using two coupons for one product.
If they do offer some sort of bounceback to you (and they don't always)
and it is for the same dates as free dining, you will have to pick one or the other.
I would only choose a bounce back if it will save you more money than free dining.

Free dining for two adults = $80 approx. You'd have to get a discount on a hotel room that is greater than $80 off. If you stay at a deluxe, and the room rate is $400 per night, than you'd have to get greater than 20% discount.

The values only run $82.50 (plus tax) per night in Sept.,
so you'd have to get your room for basically free to beat free dining. If you throw any kids in the mix, free dining is even more of a savings.

The moderates depend on season, and you'd have to figure out the cost vs. savings.

Free dining at a value is always the best deal for us!

Hope that helps!

Thanks again. That officially ends my confusion.

Yep, FD at a value is our best savings too. Two adults, one junior, one child = dining savings of US$130/day! We're booked at ASMu using my awesome 40% pin code - hopefully (1) FD will become available to us; and (2) we'll be able to stay at ASMu to get it! Having FD is a much better deal for us than my 40% pin code, in this case :goodvibes However, I'm just grateful to be able to save money, any which way we can! :thumbsup2

Just received a 500 gift card pin today in the mail but no free dinning bummer realy needed the free food . Keeping fingers crossed..

I just realized we did get a PIN offer, but for kids 3-9 to get free tix and dining with a 5 night stay. With only one in that category, it does us absolutely no good. Also, the stays before 4/16...........Still watching for a better deal.........

Hey, no problem. Might as well make myself useful while I sit here and wait for Free Dining.
[Come on Free Dining, Come on Free Dining...:wizard: ]

We Dis-ers need to look out for each other! :thumbsup2
