Well now we know they are really trying to get people in..shocking that they still haven't filled their quota for May. We are going in May but are staying offsite and at this point cant rearrange anything lol

When we changed our trip from Aug to June back in mid-March, the CM on the phone told me they were VERY lowly booked for most of June.

I took my youngest out of school at least twice that remember once was end of May for Memorial Day , the teachers/school, never had a problem with excusing the absences, as many feel a trip to Disney is educational. I know others too who took their children out for vacations. It's the end of the year unless final exams are affected I don't see a problem with it myself.

Once upon a time we got out in May...I'm from NC but now it's always after June 10th when the kids get out. I think SC is pretty similar, too. There was some law passed that kids could not go back before August 25th (had something to do with the tourism industry) so that puts us well into June before we get out now. If we got out in May this year I would go for this deal.

I didn't say everyone, but my relatives near Atlanta and in Az both are out mid may. Works for those not yet in school. Not saying it's perfect but just stating that some either are out or homeschooled. All of our last trips have been in traditional school times, and there have been quite a few children there of school age-some home schooled, some off, some just taken out. Not saying it's the thing to do (we never did) but some will.

We are taking my daughter out of school in May (staying offsite).

On a different note...im thinking if Disney is still hard up on filling rooms for the summer...it may be possible that if they cant get enough people in for may..they may extend this offer to maybe beginning of july...if thats the case..I think they would benefit with more people willing to go right when kids get out of school

That's what I posted on the other thread! Why would Disney release something only for kids DURING the school year? Most schools in the country are not out long enough before June 3 (if at all) to take advantage of this. Crazy!

Maybe they'll extend it into the summer once the deal expires. They have been known to do this way too many times :rolleyes1

I have no problem taking my kids out of school for a week to spend time as a family. When we go the kids will have been back to school for only two weeks before we pull them out to go to Disney.

Generally speaking, I'd take my 7 yo out of school for a few days and DD is pre-school age so that's no biggie, but I wouldn't take my oldest out b/c high school is too hard to miss and make up.

at 68 pages and still waiting, I think it's safe to say:

'This is the thread that never ends. Yes it goes on and on my friends. Some people started posting not knowing what it was (fd? summer?) and we'll just keep on posting, forever, just because, this is the thread that never ends..'

Great.. guess what I'm going to be humming all morning:lmao:

Well it doesn't look good for my dates of travel. I am going to think of plan b-
change my dates and go earlier or just go to disney and have to pay for food.
BOO HOO

The schools here let out at a variety of times...depends on the school (private or public/city or parish). The dates range from mid-May through the last week of May. So, I can see how many people from Louisiana could take advantage of the new offer. Just wish my child was still young enough that I could.

I take my kids (10 &13) out for vacation to Disney in September. They get all their work before we go and they either do it on the plane or at night in the room. Its funny because I find so many ways at Disney to sneak in what they are learning and they dont even realize it.

RIP Shari Lewis..... My DD and I sang this song approximately 8 million times when she was little. *sniff

OT: I too am waiting for a fall free dining or other special offer. We want to go in early December, which is not typically a time for specials, although last year was an exception.

just wanted to be post 1,000:goodvibes

and missed it :(:surfweb:
Now, you will have to try for 2000...I think it will get here before the promo for Fall is out.:surfweb:

I was thinking with how many times they extended it the past I think they are trying to offer different deals until they find something that works...Unfortunately they haven't found it yet!:confused3
COME ON PEOPLE BOOK IN MAY!!!
maybe that would work.:rotfl:

We do the same thing. We just have to fill out a form syaing why we are taking them out. We get school work and they do it on the flight down...we take a day off in the middle and do some work...and on the way home too.

Oh Lambchop & Hushpuppy:goodvibes

It's a fairly safe bet that just because a given school district is in session til June.. not ALL are.. not by a long stretch - especially when you factor in neighboring areas like Canada.

Ahem.

And I'm just going to say this once - debate about taking kids out of school for Disney isn't the topic of this thread. So.. let's not debate that.

It's a personal choice for the parents where the schools allow it. Not something to argue about on the internet.

Internet arguing is exclusively reserved for:

- Refillable mugs - Stealing? Or Innocent Theft?
- Room occupancy - Who said 12 is the limit?
- Pool hopping: Crime Against Humanity or No Big Deal
- Fastpasses do or do not expire

And a plethora of other VERY important issues..

Hahaha..:lmao::lmao:

We always take our kids out and go in the fall, too. Now it would be nice if we got out in mid- May so we could take advantage of this deal...but no such luck! My oldest is now in a tested grade and that would be right around the time of his end of grade testing so no way we could take him out and go!
