Free Dining Seems Way Better Than Any Pin Code

Most of the comparisons Ive seen here are generic, just the cost of the DP verses the savings on the room. This makes it easy to say which is better. I think you would look at the restaurants you want to eat at and compare the cost of the meals for each individual to see if the DP saves you money.

I know a couple of years ago my family's meal (4A-1C) at Narcoosees would have cost me around $400 OOP if we were not on the DP.

I guess Im saying your savings could be more or less depending on your tastes and eating habits>

Well I think several people have made the point that they don't find the DP a good value because of the way that they eat or want their children to eat. Certainly for us, when we were trying to decide whether to purchase the DP, it wasn't a good deal unless we changed the way we wanted to eat which we didn't want to do.

As a two-person party last September, we took advantage of the free dining (snack, fast food, and sit-down) offer and easily saved $100 a day. With another person, we were able to spend an entire week at a WDW value resort, have five park tickets (each), one Universal Studios pass (each) and travel to-and-from Orlando (via air) for a total of $1,000 each - that's a tremendous deal.
I really want to go back to WDW this September; however, the cheapest option comes in at $1,500 (for seven nights at a value resort, five park tickets, airfare, but no Universal) with the same free dining option - that's just too much for one person. Even at 40% off the value resort price, the cost would remain above the thousand dollar threshold. Unless someone knows of a great travel deal for a single traveler, I'm going to be WDW-free in 2010. At least I have my D23 magazines to keep me occupied.

DH just surprised me this past week with news he wanted to go to Disney next month! We are at a value resort, preferred room, 7 nights, 8 day park tickets, regular dining (paying to upgrade) and that total is 1437.00...add 358.00 for air for the both of us and we are still coming in under 1000.00 each! Not sure how you came up with 1500.00 per person unless your air is really expensive. Maybe run the numbers again! :)

I've had multiple different pin codes since making my reservations but none have been as good as free dining, which is available to everyone now anyways. People should be looking into that instead of trying so hard to get a pin code off resort stays. Even the 40% off didn't beat free dining.

OP, I have not read through this entire thread, but I have to respectfully disagree with you. Free dining is NOT available to everyone, we are going during the blackout times. I must say I think it is unfair for it to be available to others and not everyone, especially because it is a general public discount and not a special pin sent out by disney. However I do understand the reason that there are blackout dates. Another thing is that free dining is not the best deal for my family, a room discount would serve us better, but again, there are not any general public offers for a room discount right now for when we are going. 40% off would blow away free dining for our family.

Thanks a million I understand ,I knew I wasnt crazy with my math:) again thanks!

O I have Another question my BFF amd I travel 2gether when we go 2 WDW he got the monster pin for 40% off any resort for the week we plan on going Dec 12th -18th I got a pin for the photo session and speed racer thingy his discount is more to are liking, if we book with his pin code and he decides that he cant go (he just got a promotion) will I be able to keep the reservation for me and my son (his God Son)?

lucky. i wish i could get a discount for that week.

I'm afraid my numbers are sound. A mid-September seven-day stay in a value resort in a standard room for one person costs $1,329.48 alone. That's not a deal (even with the free standard dining option included). Without the dining option: $1,154.20. :sad2:

That's odd: There shouldn't be ANY change in amount as the dining option is supposed to be included for any full resort stay during the Septermber timeframe quoted. Regardless, it still costs above $1,000 to stay in a value resort for a week.

Just to update this thread a little.

We booked our rooms using a free dining code I got. Today my mom, who will be in my room, got a 20/30/40% room code pin. When I called to price, the room discount code saved us $700 for 9 nights at the Poly (deluxe)

When they ran the numbers for my brother's room at Pop, the free dining code was cheaper for him than the room discount code and adding the quick service dining plan.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I didn't catch that you would be by yourself. The room rate stays the same whether for one or 2 people and for a third adult I think they pay 10.00 or so extra per night at a value. So, obviously the more people you have in the room the more ways you have to split the bill. You need to find a travel buddy to share the cost again!;) Good luck!

I just ran some dates thru the Disney site and I am getting 921.58. That is for 7 nights in a standard room at All Star Music (Sept 11-18th) with a 7 day base ticket and the free quick service dining plan. If you want the regular dining plan at a value you have to pay to upgrade and that would bring the total to 991.58....Still under 1000.00. Still not sure where you are coming up with your numbers. :confused3
