I would like to apologize to everyone for hogging reservations. I am never going with family to Disney and coordinating things again!!!!! Currently I have FOUR overlapping reservations. Two that need to be completely cancelled and one that needs to be modified (thus the apology!!!) I wouldn't have these if I would have been able to get through to Disney on the phone today. Alas, the website was working (half the time.)
So here's the story if anyone wants to tell me it's ok!!!!!
1. Going on this trip are my brother and his family (room 1), my sister (room 2), my parents (room 3) and us (room 4.) Brother and I are doing our own booking through Disney. Mom is going through AAA for her and my sister's room. We are all booked at POR months ago. Two princess rooms and two regular rooms in the next room over. No stress. Looking forward to possible discounts.
2. Free dining goes live online at midnight. NO POR for our dates. Doesn't make or break our trip, but sad and in shock. Never had problems with free dining before. PANIC. Book a room only discount for our room so at least we have something. So now I have 2 reservations (1 RO and 1 non-discounted. The RO is an extra couple of days since we decided to go a few days before everyone else.)
3. Playing with the website because I am in shock still. (I know, pretty dumb. This is a non-guaranteed discount. I know that.) Find the type of room I want (even though not the view) from the first day free dining is offered for until ALMOST our last night. 4 nights and we are staying 5. Obviously the problem was the last Saturday night. Figured 4 nights of free dining is better than none and everyone on disboards says they can't get POR. So I book it online. Figured I would cancel first reservation and modify room only discount reservation to wrap around free dining dates.
4. After many phone calls and emails/chats brother says they are switching to Caribbean Beach to get free dining. Talk to my parents. They don't want to move as they got a super cheap rate at POR (like $600 under the Disney site. No clue how their travel agent did that!) Call my brother to him that then my mom calls back saying their travel agent managed to get a good deal at CB so they could switch. Brother got through on the phone and switched to CB so now we are the only ones not there.
5. STILL can't get through on phone. Find CB pirate room online with free dining and book it. (RESERVATION 4) to guarantee everyone is at the same resort. Now I have to cancel the other free dining.
6. Mom calls and says they are booked- saved $400 under Disney website with free dining. WTH?!?!?! She gave me travel agents name and now the travel agent is checking if she can beat our price.
