Free dining released now for aug 25th-sept 29??

Can someone tell me what time the reservation line opens on Monday? I'm going to try and call and get it.....but from what I'm hearing the chances of me getting it at POP are going to be slim. So I'm thinking I might use our PIN code for discounted room only and then buy our tickets through the YES program. Might come out cheaper.....if we can't get the FD at POP.

The phone lines open at 7 a.n. EST. But, really, I wouldn't let booking at Pop be a deal breaker for free dining. Our kids actually prefer All-Star Movies.

My kids prefer Pop :) We've been to ASM and ASMu, sports wouldn't work for us....we're such a non sports family. If we can't get FD at POP we'll probably just book using our PIN code and pay OOP for dining. It comes out to be about the same anyway....plus we always ate too much on the dining plan and wasted so much food.

Has anyone been able to book Coronado Springs? If so was it standard or did you have to take water view?

We have been debating on taking a trip this year, FD makes it a go.

To be clear-if we check in on 9/28 we are covered for up to 14 days? Also should I go on and book and then have the FD added on Monday or just wait?

I have lurked around the Dis for a long time and have learned so much even though we have been going to Disney World for years. Thanks to all of you!

I saw an earlier post where someone said that you needed the disney visa to book FD now as you have to pay another $200 deposit. I have the visa and called and got the visa, but was not charged another deposit. I called and checked this and was again told that another deposit wasn't necessary, as my reservation was just modified. Is this correct, or will I have problems down the line?

We have often checked in on the last day of FD promotion and yes, you get it for your whole stay. (as long as that hasn't changed since Feb 2011, when we last did that)

Did you use the Disney Visa to make your original deposit? If so, you wouldn't need to make another deposit.

It is only if you had a reservation already that you had used another card to make the deposit. If you switch to the Disney Visa code, then you would have to make the additional deposit using the Disney Visa.

Maggie

Thanks Maggie, I did use the disney visa for the original deposit, so I guess that's it. I guess I can stop fretting now.

:love:Just changed my reservation for Port Orleans 9/7- 9/16 to FD. Saved alot of money!!!

For our WDW trip last year, FD was offered both for our dates the third week of Aug and for the family suites at ASMU too.
right?! What happened there?!:confused3:headache:

I know a lot of people are fine with getting two value resort rooms instead of the family suite, but I like the family suite because you get a queen size bed in the bedroom, kitchenette with a coffeemaker, fridge, and microwave which comes in handy even if you have the dining plan (especially for breakfast in the morning), and I like all of us being on one reservation. My DH is 6"4 and we can't comfortably share a full size bed and we don't want to split up and share a bed with our kids either

My husband is also well over 6 feet tall. We were fairly miserable in terms of sleeping last year b/c he is just too tall to share a double bed. He's too tall to sleep in a double bed by himself! No joke, I was sleep shoved on to the floor more than once last year!!:lmao: Both of my step kids are also very tall. We have one in the other bed and one on an air mattress on the floor. The room is littered with arms and legs hanging off every sleeping surface. It's kind of funny. As the wee one in the group I am having to leap over every one to get anywhere! We had considered doing two rooms connecting so that we could do the free dining but I then I remembered that the queen is only in the Family Suites. Talked it over with the hubs and he said getting decent sleep and not running on empty during the day is more important that free dining based on how wretched we felt at the end of our vacation last year.

On the plus side, based on the cost of a value family suite and our needs as a family, I think we have decided that we are going to take the plunge and do DVC . We've been on the fence for a while about it. At this point, Hubs is tired of the hunt for codes and this and that. We go every year regardless so we might as well go for it. :cool1:

We also considered doing an All Star Vacation home. If you stay seven nights a rental car is free!

Good luck to everyone on the hunt!! :goodvibes

When it's released to the general public, is it usually a call first and then they make it available online? Or do they put it online at midnight?
What is the end date again? Now I need to decide POR or 2 rooms at movies. Ack!

Should be released to the public on Monday, March 5th and the phone lines open at 7am EST. I think it becomes available online at the same time.....but I don't know that for sure since we always have to call in for our reservations to get two tied together. The last date to check in is Saturday, September 29th. I'm not sure on the last date you can book the promotion.

Just so I know what to expect when I call tomorrow to add the FD onto our ressie............will they want me to make an additional deposit? And what is the price they are going to stick me for on the 2-day MYW tickets? We had planned / thought best of ordering tickets through UT, and will do so for the additional days we will be going into the parks, but if the only way I can get the FD is to buy these two day tickets through Disney I guess we'll have to do that.

Have you already ordered your tickets through UT? The first 3 or 4 days on a ticket are the most expensive, so you will decrease any savings you get from free dining by purchasing additional tickets. A 2 day ticket is about $179/person.

Just booked 5 nights at the asm. I had to book preferred and Pop is filled for 8/25. You also have to buy at least a 3 day ticket per person. I upgraded to regular dining and the total for 3 adults is $1640. (aproximately the paperwork is downstairs.)

Good luck!

No, I haven't ordered them yet, but now I'm confused. We will be there for 8 nights and plan to be in the parks for either 4 or 5 of those days. So are you saying that if we plan to go more than 2 days, the FD offer doesn't make sense? Should we instead hold out for a RO discount? We'll be doing ADR for CRT, Mickey's Backyard BBQ (and Narcoossee's just for DH and I one night). Since the prices for those on WDW web-site only gives a range and not an actual price, I am having a hard time number crunching. Thanks!

Park tickets get cheaper for each additional day purchased. To go from 1 day to 2 it doesn't save much but when you go from 4 day to a 5 day it's only about $10 more for that 5th day. So if you buy your tickets seperate you are gonna pay about a full 1 day price for each of your days. I'm not on my computer to give you good prices right now but it's usually best to have your tickets all from one purchase.

OOHHHHHH, OK - got it, got it, got it. Now I see what you mean - better to just order the tickets for ALL of the days through Disney rather than pay Disney for the 2-day and then pay UT for an additional 2 or 3 day on top of that. Cool, thanks for clearing that up for me, I just wasn't making the connection somehow. :thumbsup2

To take advantage of a free dining discount you have to be booked under a Magic Your Way package that includes room, tickets and dining. As part of that package you must book at least a 3 night minimum stay and 2 day base tickets for everyone in your party. Purchasing a free dining Magic Your Way Package and then ordering additional tickets from Undercover Tourist would be a total waste of money and would negate any saving you would get by booking a free dining discount in the first place. Also, if you are currently booked under a room only reservation you will have to cancel that reservation and rebook under a package reservation. The money from the room only reservation can not be "transferred" to the package reservation and it will take 2 billing cycles to receive a refund from that cancellation.
