Free dining Q's

I was thinking of booking with VH for free dining next October, But I believe I would have to buy park tickets too, they are £220 for adults and £200 for kids as an AP holder these would be no good to me as it nearly cancels out the cost of the Free dining!

If I book direct with Disney (US) and free dining is offered do I still need to buy park tickets?

yep! you can only get free dining if you buy park tickets! its the downside of being an AP holder or using DVC points

However you can book through Disney US and buy only a 1 day ticket and still get the free dining if offered.

That is one good option - if the accommodation prices are competitive with what you can get here. Otherwise why don't you get a TIW card? 20% off is a much better discount than the dining plan, especially if you think you would eat more just to get your value from the DDP. YOu would then just be ordering what you want and when you want, at a decent discount.

We have used the TIW for quite a few years but for our next trip in Feb 11 we thought we would use the dining plan as it equates to what we spend on food anyway!

We did the US offer and you just need to buy a 1 day ticket each.

We had other tickets and have saved our 1 days for another trip (will upgrade them). I think you could used them towards your next AP.
