:confused3 I noticed that a lot of people have been mentioning some kind of free dining plan. What is this all about? :confused3

For visits Aug. 13- Sept. 30, if you stay on property and buy theme park tickets, you get the dining plan (1 table-service, 1 counter-service, 1 snack per day) for free. I believe there is an icon regarding that on Disneyworld's web page now, or call and inquire.

Free dining absolutely rocks!

The key to getting free dining is that you pay full rack rate for your hotel room. In some cases (especially with the nicer hotels) you'd be better off using an available discount on your hotel room, and purchasing the dining program.

We decided to go on the free dining plan Aug 13 thru the 20th. we also have a trip planned May 2007 with the dining plan.were staying at the same resort, have the same hopper tickets and the same length of stay. The Aug trip is about $1000 cheaper than the quote we got for May.

That is really cool! Do any of you know if DVC members can take advantage of this? Also, what if you have AP's?

DVC members are now able to get free dining. You will have to buy one MYW ticket for every person in your party. We are not DVC members, but are AP holders. We're staying 10 days at POP and we had to buy a one day ticket for every person in our party. Which it totally worth it. Especially since you can apply those tickets to your next AP!

Starting April 1, DVC members and their guests (i.e. renters) can purchase the dining plan. However, I did not know that they were eligible for free dining in Aug. - Sept. When was that announced?

DVC members can purchase the dining plan, and do not need to buy MYW tickets.

They are not eligible for free dining. That's a special package offer that requires you reserve a room at full price (rack rate) and purchase at least a one-day MYW ticket for everyone in the party.

If you can take part in it, go for it!! Dining FREE is a HUGE weight off our backs and pressure off to make sure you have enough to eat:)
D.D.

DVC members can get free dining -- They just have to purchase a MYW package which includes a hotel room and admission, and save their points for next year! :)

This is how I understand it as well.

Bicker,

You have me thinking....do you think I can get a better room discount...please tell me how. We are a family of 4, so the dining plan would be apprx. $40.00 each. We are staying at the GF, room rate is $349.00 a nite. We had the dining plan last year and some of our bills were $250 - $300. It was unbelievable how much we ate!! (and we ate it all :thumbsup2 ).

TIA,

Anna

Check the archives. There were some discussions over the past week from folks who got AAA discounts at deluxe resorts, saving more than $80 per night.

Buy at the value resorts It's low season, you will have a good deal.
