Free Dining part of stay

I was told by a friend (I know red flags went up right away for me too) that if your first day of your stay at a Disney Hotel is the last day of Free Dining, Disney will honor Free Dining for the length of your stay?

Yes, that's correct. It goes by your check-in date.
