free dining/park ticket ?

Hi, we are headed down on August 25-Sept.3rd. We have a room only reservation from the 25th-28th and the free dining package for the rest of the time. I could swear I read somewhere that we would possibly be able to use our park tickets when we check in on the 25th..obviously no dining until the 28th. Has anyone successfully done this? Also, would we be able to just add extra days to our park hoppers when we get there?

If you bought your tickets w/ the FD package you will NOT be able to do that. You will have to go and check out and check back in on the 28th and you will get new KTTW cards w/ everything on them. AS for adding extra days you can but they will be added to your tickets that start the 28th. Unless you buy NEW tickets.
Be sure to tell them at check in you don't want to be moved if your in the same resort. We did this in Feb an they were going to move us after our room only ressie. thankfully they didn't after.

Unless things have changed, I'm not sure the above advice is true. My kids just did this in February. Checked in for a few days on a room only (package was to start 3 days later). They were able to start using tix on the 1st day of the room only part. This had to be done @ the front desk.

They were NOT part of free dining, so I don't know if that made a difference.

Yes....you SHOULD be able to pick up your tickets up to three days in advance of the start of your package. I recommend you go to Cheshire Figments ticket FAQ on the main site...it has the details there...but according to that you can pick up your tickets at one of the guest services locations at the entrance to the parks or at DTD. You can't start the dining plan early, as you already said.

And, yes, you can always add more days to your tickets. Disney will always take more of your money.

That is correct; I did this last year, when my discount didn't start until the second day of my ressie. The length of your park tickets is NOT tied to the length of your stay nor the length of your dining plan.

As others have said, you can pick up your park tickets up to 3 days prior to the start of your package . We did this in December and it worked out great. We had 2 nights room only before changing resorts where we had a package. Just go to any park's Guest Relations and request early ticket pick up .
