Free Dining Package?

We haven't taken advantage of Free Dining in the past, but we probably will if they announce it for the general public later this year. We're curious though, has Free Dining always been offered as part of a package that also includes park tickets and resort? or just resort? The reason I ask is that we were thinking of purchasing discounted tickets elsewhere ahead of time. But, if you need to also purchase tickets to get the Free Dining, then we'll wait.

the free dining was with a room/ticket package...believe you have to get at least a one day pass to qualify on the Free Dining package.

True! I am an annual pass holder, but have used free dining every year it's been offered. To do so, I've had to buy at least a one day MYW ticket for everyone in the room. I have a big stack of those one day tickets and will have another one in May (as I had to buy another one day ticket to get the buy 4 get 3 days free deal) and another in Sept (since I booked the Bounce Back deal, when I was there last Sept.)

Thanks for the replies. I guess we'll wait to get the tickets through the package, since the savings from Free Dining will far outweigh the discount on the tickets. Now, let's just hope the Free Dining is offered during our planned dates (3rd or 4th week of August)!

If you are an AP holder, can't you use those one day tickets towards a renewal of the AP?

so far, they have not offered Free Dining for stays during May. Last couple of years, the promotion started in April - but that's when you could call for reservations, not when you could stay. The free dining was for stays in August & September. They did offer it again for some days later in the Fall for Visa cardholders in 2008.

We got in on the free dining this year. I just booked us for our stay in August. I got a PIN code in my email. We have never done free dining before, we have always paid for it, I am looking forward to it. It was offered for August 16 to October something.
