I currently have a reservation booked for BWV at the end of August. Will have to purchase tickets and dining plan. Free dining released today! Booked Pop Century preferred room same dates with the free dining and tickets and its the same price that tickets and dining would cost me for my BWV stay. Should I save the 72 points and cancel DVC stay to stay at POP with the free dining?

What would you do with those 72 points if you cancel the BWV reservation? Do you have plans to travel again before the end of your UY? Are the points bankable? If the answer is no to both of those questions, then I would stick with the BWV reservation. It's a nicer location and your OOP costs are the same.

It's possible that we may be traveling back before the points expire. If not, they are bankable.

I’d choose based on the resort. Which do you prefer?

Be have BLT booked on points for during the free dining time. We aren’t changing our plans because we want to stay at BLT.

Same here. We have a reservation at VGF for that time frame. We could probably stay at a Value Resort with *free* dining and spend the same amount OOP. But then, we would be staying at a Value Resort and not VGF.

From an owner's perspective, I think it's a great benefit to have a multi-year plan for your points. Being able to bank your points is a nice feature but if it forces you to take a trip that you otherwise wouldn't, or if it means booking larger accommodations to use up those points before they expire, then you really don't save anything. In fact, it can end up costing you more money in the long run.

Don’t forget Pop free dining is just the quick service plan - don’t know if you have any table service meals planned, and would want to upgrade to the regular dining plan, a cost to add to the equation

I did include the upgrade to regular dining in my price match. My extended family has now booked to go as well because of free dining and they will be at Pop so I think I'm just trying to sell myself on it because I of course prefer Boardwalk, but my kids would like to stay with the family even without the beloved clown slide.:D

How late in August will you be there? Food & Wine typically starts the Thursday before Labor Day now, which would be Thursday August 29th this year (not sure if that's confirmed, but that would be the case if it follows the trend of the last two years). If your dates coincide with the potential start of Food & Wine, I would stay at BWV.

Never in a million years would I do that. I am not even sure i would take a free week with dining at POP over a 72 point DVC stay Board Walk. yes....proudly admit I am a snob when it comes to value resorts.
