Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

We're staying at POR 11/11-11/17,standard room with a roll in shower(wheelchair assesable) would anyone here say that this category has a good shot to get fd. I am flexible enough to switch to any other mod resort's in this category. I also still need to make a ro ress on the 10th and have looked online but having a hard time finding this same category at POR. It would be nice to get that same room so we could link the two ress but it looks like I'll be moving to another room the next day. We were going to stay at a value that first night but it would leave us getting a taxi the next morning in order to check in,get our tickets and get to mk by 9am. Mother doesn't move that fast:lmao:that's why I think it would be better to already be at POR.

I stayed at POR when I was younger (When it was still Dixie Landings) and it is by far one of my favorite resorts. I was over-ruled this trip by my DW & DS and we are currently booked for POFQ but I would honestly prefer POR.

I hear you - POR, formerly Dixie Landings, is my fav resort on Disney property (also my fav place on Earth), and I have stayed at many of the deluxe and DVC resorts. As much as I love POR, I have no interest whatsoever in POFQ (this probably makes POFQ fans happy as I am one less competitor for POFQ rooms during free dining). I don't like the New Orleans theme of POFQ.

But POFQ has some advantages: I hear the bus transportation is great and no room is very far from the pool and food court. And if you love POR you can always walk over for visits.

That is really unacceptable! However, in the meantime why don't you look up the rates on the Disney site so you can still discuss everything with your family. That does not resolve your TA problem and you will then have to decide how to handle things with her but at least you will know what you need to know.

Thanks! I have looked and I believe switching to POP will be the cheapest option for us so hopefully we can get a room with no problems.

Question, as we are locked into our dates, with a checkin on the 9th dec, we already have the room and dining package at the normal rate, but naturally would like to have FD as well. I understand that we would have to have a split stay to get the FD with the second part of the trip having a check in on the 12th. Question is, does the total I'd inn credits get credited to us on the first check in, or only those credits to do with that checkin, then the next lot of credits on the second "checkin".

We have some bookings at the beginning of our trip that are two dining credits, as we worked out what days over the entire trip with ADR's of when we would use them.

You don't get your dining credits from the FD reservation until you check in that day (the 12th of dec in your case.). You could buy a dining package for the 9-12 but you also have to get a set of tickets with that package. Then you have to have another new set of tickets to go with the next reservation starting the 12th. You may want to see if you can rearrange ADRs. I have read on here that you can pick up your package park tickets 3 days before your package reservation. So the tickets would be cheaper to buy say a 6 day ticket as opposed to 2 three day tickets. Then pay OOP for food during the first room only reservation. Plus you should be able to get a discounted rate for those days. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks for the clarification, unfortunately we can't change reservations, as mickey christmas party tickets and CP. Most likely will just pack OOP for the two DS for one of the meals, need to work out how it will all work.

But thanks so much for the clarification, so helpful.

SO excited! One more day! I actually work today instead of tomorrow because I traded so I could be off tomorrow for the big event. I hope this rumor is true.:woohoo:

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but just curious - are there a number of rooms put "aside" for the DV offers and then another group of rooms put aside for the FD/RO packages that are released to the public? Didn't know if I can't get what I want tomorrow (I have 3 ressies) if it was worth trying again on the 1st.
Thanks so much!

Quick question - what time do the lines open up to start calling tomorrow 6am? 7am? Also, will there be a code we can give the Disney cast member? Do we click "Mae a change to n existing reservation" if we already have one or is it quicker to click make a new reservation? TIA

Depends on your time zone. I'm central so for me It's 6am. They can change your existing reservation. If its not already on your DV you would have to pay 200$ with that if you are booking with the advanced DV offer. I don't think it's any quicker to make a new reservation than it is to change one unless you are like me and are already on a bounceback and they have to get you over to another department to do that. You won't need a code. The CM will have it but you might have to tell them the offer is out in case they've not read their morning memo yet. You can't do it online tomorrow. You must call. Good luck!!!

Not fair, have to wait for the general public date to be able to change our ressie. Would love to get a Disney Visa but it isn't available where I live :(

I've been wondering about asking for new reservations too even though I'm changing an existing one. I was reading the 2012 version of this thread ...the day it went public some people posted hold times of around 1.5 hours and some got through in just a few minutes - looked like the difference was asking for new reservation at the prompt - those people seemed to get through quicker. And one or two people indicated they were able to book it online before 9:00.

One more question to add - is there any downside to booking a completely new reservation and canceling your existing one afterward - especially if you are able to go ahead and book online?? I'm thinking about calling at 7:00 on the day it goes public but also trying to go online (knowing that I can't change my reservation) and booking a completely new reservation if it's up before 9:00.

Hope everyone is having a great - anxiety free weekend!!

If like to know too. I don't mind putting another $200 down if it means I can get through quicker :)

Tell me about it! I think from here on out I'll be my own TA!

I've always done my own because I'm too much of a control freak when it comes to vacations to leave it to anyone else! :rotfl:

Plus, I know what my end goal is as far as resort and discounts, and I tend to do our trips in steps to get to what I want. Throw in that we're retired military, so there are rate and ticket considerations, and I'm just not willing to trust that to someone else.

The only thing that makes my life a little less complicated is that we never use DDP, so that isn't a consideration for us.

Hi everyone. Hoping someone can confirm what i think has to happen--I just want to be ready on Thursday. We are checking in on 10.17 at AKL, staying through 10.26. We are currently booked with a package (MYW, ddp). So, we will need to change our reservation to have a room only on 10.17 (not a big deal, we don't get in until 7:30 that night and won't need any tickets for the parks or anything). Then we will need to have the next reservation start on 10.18 to get free dining. My question is if the room only discount ends up being better for us, does that mean i have to cancel and re-book, therefore needing the payments we've already made credited back to my credit card? If we just switch to free dining, i don't have to deal with waiting for my card to be credited back, correct? Thanks everyone!:)

Frustrated over here! My disney visa has yet to come in the mail and so it's looking like I'll be waiting till gp for fd. Hoping POR isn't booked by then. What's the fastest way to get a cm on the phone? It seems to take forever with the auto system, answering questions, spelling my name etc... (I already have a package booked)

The fastest way to skip that is say Agent.
