Magic Kingdom is the longest bus ride. Our kids are past nap age, but we still break at the resort for pool time. We are renting a car for flexibility. I think the bus issue is overblown by many people in regards to AKL. We LOVE it there and the pros outweigh the cons. Your kids will love it there! Truly, the bus rides weren't any worse than other resorts we have stayed at. I hope you have a great trip!

We went several years ago and only had one DD at the time, but the bus rides were great. Never waited too long for a bus and we never found them crowded. We figured maybe its because more people who stay deluxe also rent a car as compared to people who stay at value resorts? We took afternoon breaks and never found the buses to be an inconvenience.

Thank you SO much! That makes me feel a LOT better! :yay: MK is the park we'll be at the most but I am glad to hear that the bus ride isn't that bad. I kinda figured it would be the same as like a CBR...with all the different island stops and then the trip to the park it ends up being almost 10-15 mins anyway...but your info set my mind at ease! Thanks! :)

I was on hold today for about 45 minutes, but was able to move one of our POR Royal garden view to a Royal standard view, for Thanksgiving week. Popped up while I was on the phone with CM. Now I just need to snag one more for my parents. Fingers crossed. Trying to save a little bit where we can because we are hoping to fly. So everyone who still hasn't gotten their first choice, keep trying things are changing all the time!

Jealous! That's exactly what I need. At least I know to keep trying.

Weird. I booked 2 rooms at Coronado yesterday, but today I decided to try back and see if maybe we should go 1 deluxe room or a villa instead and I am getting about 0 availability at any hotel for our dates: 10/2 through 10/14.

Getting the same thing for our dates 10/18-10/22, no availability even without a discount. :confused3

I logged into my reservation through myDisney Experience and looked at my reservations, and it doesn't mention free dining on the reservation. I was thinking about calling, but does anyone else have experience with this? Shouldn't FD show up on the reservation?

Thanks,
Terry

Mine doesn't specifically mention it but it does reflect in the price and shows the dining plan.

I just got off the phone with a really nice CM. I was calling to cancel a couple of reservations I made online yesterday "in the frenzy" (yes, I was one of the double booking people but it was not TA related).

I was one of those people, too!!! I felt bad, but I think Disney set themselves up for that. It would be much easier if you could cancel online. And with rooms being EXTREMELY limited this time, you could have easily lost what you wanted by the time you got through on the phones. Especially if you are trying to coordinate rooms with other people/family (we were trying to coordinate 4 rooms under 3 different reservations!)

We ended up switching resorts for FD. Originally I was really disappointed, but now I am excited. We will be in POR royal rooms for a weekend with a room only discount (which was kinda a joke. 5%?!?!) which is great because that is where we wanted to be and there were things we wanted to do at the resort. Then we switch to CBR to the pirate rooms. So we are going from Princesses to Pirates. It will be fun! :)

So as we awake on this much less crazy morning, how does everyone feel about their vacation at this point?

Freakin' awesome! Thanks for dropping the leak, and enabling us to take advantage of this! My family saved $1650.00 and are going back to our "home" resort Pop Century in October! :cheer2: <--- I'm a guy, but I'll cheer for this!!!

Sorry, but the only thing rude and inconsiderate is this post. I too have two bookings. I just sat on hold for 45 minutes only to be disconnected when a CM tried to pick up. I believe the OP was trying to find out when will the phone lines die down a little so we don't have to spend the entire day on the phone to modify our ressies. They never said "when I get around to it." Again, there are people on the other side of these posts. Real life people.

Thank you for understanding.

For those who are upset by people who ended up with multiple reservations and needing to cancel one, please keep in mind that USUALLY the one needing to be cancelled was NOT one with a discount or free dining. So the double bookings were not taking any of the discounted rooms out of the pool (minus the one people intended to use.)

I admit I did have a FD room I had to cancel (and tried to get on the phone to do it immediately, although it took me EIGHT hours to get through on the phone to do it!) as my entire family decided to jump ship from the resort we were supposed to stay at in order to get free dining (I was the only one out of 4 who got free dining for the resort of our choice.)

So as we awake on this much less crazy morning, how does everyone feel about their vacation at this point?

After this week-long ordeal that seemed to last an eternity, did anyone learn anything valuable that they'll remember for the next time? Something that you should or should not have done?

I've learned to never anticipate, rely, or at this point expect the Disney Visa early booking perk. Last night, while chatting, I was looking down my blog and came upon the free dining posts from 2010. The "leak" date was May 3 and I had posted the DV should be available "on or around May 1" (I like that phrasing better looking back). While the May 3rd date was correct as leaked, the DV actually dropped on April 29...it came early. This was before there was really any kind of rhyme or reason for the DV date in relation to the GP date.

So after looking back at that, I realized that it's twice the DV has become quite unreliable, and now not always even offered at all. Of course, there were no complaints that it came early, as bookings went very smooth and calm as word slowly got out, everyone got what they wanted, and everyone was happy.

What have you learned? :confused3

Great! Thanks for all you do and thanks to all the others who help us "lost newbies" on here.
Learned: Don't pre-book if you REALLY only want to go with free dining. And stay up till after midnight the day a new deal is released and get it on-line!

I agree, tact goes a long way in life. :thumbsup2

The CM is spoke to just now was freakin hilarious

She was very positive in saying to let things die down and to call back every few days if you didn't get what you wanted.

She said they had a huge influx of cancellations due to switching resorts/not getting the dates. She said most cancellations went into rack rooms, as they were originally booked as rack rates. She said they have an overload of rack rooms and to be on the lookout for rooms being added back in.

****She also made mention of how different free dining is going this fall. She said the CMs at her place were very suprise with no DV, and with so many exclusions.

She said she worked on the day that DV's were calling, she said that when she got there at 7:00, there were over 400 calls on hold and they ended up having a big meeting about it,

She did say that the CMs thought it was a headache to NOT have DV, and that they should have done it ;)

Did you not bother to read this post just a few above yours that was unnecessarily harsh and ridiculous? I'm double booked. My other room is at POFQ which is not under FD and only has a tiny RO discount. Most of us are in a similar situation. There is no need for us all to crash the phone lines again today.

I called and was on hold for almost an hour. I was in the same situation and they told me that I did have free dining and I should get my conformation soon even though it's been over 24 hours, but confirmed I did indeed have free dining

Mine doesn't specifically mention it but it does reflect in the price and shows the dining plan.

Thanks, mine doesn't reflect it anywhere, just reflects the resort we changed our booking to...doesn't show in the price or dining about FD. Guess I will call to confirm. Hope the phone lines are better today!!!

I never book with a TA because you lose all control. And with Disney, you don't really save any money, in my experience.

Just got my conformation!!!!!!!!!!

Well the most important thing I learned this time around, is to never book ahead of time. I got really lucky and was able to book in the middle of the night online, BUT....most people were not aware it was even available online after midnight. I just happened to wake up!!! Lesson learned.:thumbsup2

My TA and I both tried to apply free dining and change resorts since 6am yesterday, but no luck. So upset ;(

You may not be trying to be rude, but you are. It's all about instant gratification, instead of just waiting for a TA to do the job you hired them for, a while bunch of people double booked.

And as for it not taking for the discounted pool of rooms, that is incorrect.

Get off the Disboards and get on the phone and cancel your double booking.

I agree with your overall point...not the way it is being delivered though.

I think WDWPlanner is really referring to those who are using TA's. Yesterday we saw on here a LOT of people who just couldn't be patient enough to wait to hear from their TA and went online and booked their own FD room. Those ressie's have to be cancelled...either the FD one they did on their own or the FD on the TA made...either way there is a FD room waiting in the wind and wasted. Those poeple really should be getting in the phone ASAP to cancel. Even if it involves waiting on hold for a few hours. It's called the cost of inpatience! :cool1:

Sorry...really don't mean to flame anyone...but I see WDWPlanner's point!

Well, I am feeling pretty darn happy, appreciative, and grateful!!!pixiedust:pixiedust: We are staying at POR, 11 days, 10 night. It'll be me, DH, DS14, DD12, DS7. So for FD we saved a whopping $2535.30. THATS HUGE!!!!:cool1:
