Free dining for October already gone?!?

So this morning I tried to book a room at a Moderate resort for the week of October 25-31. I tried online and called and was told all the promotional rooms were already booked. Can someone answer this, Do many people book rooms in anticipation of free dining? I Had no trouble booking for December of 2014 in June of last year.

I would not be surprised if you were able to find a room a week from today. The Free Dining Promotion opened up this week and there was quite a flurry of activity. I would try again next week because there are likely many rooms on hold by travel agents right now and people will let them go as they finalize their plans.
Was it all of the moderates were booked for your week? did you try playing with the dates? pushing out the start or brining in the end?

free dining is a huge draw and rooms for the perk are limited.

Uh...let me try to explain this in english...when the Fd went available online I logged in to shop for our September trip. My first try, only standard rooms were available at Pop. If I wanted a preffered room I had to check inn on the Saturday instead of the Sunday, wich made our trip an 8 nights stay. Later that nigth I went back and all room categories were available, for a check inn on Sunday. I waited in the morning to book 'cause I wanted to make sure with DH, again only standard rooms available
I waited like 10 minutes, went back, again every categories were on again...
Bottom line a Cast member once told me they see the same availability that we see online. Don't give up and try again later.

And that is not always true either, more Disney inconsistencies There was a time I got a special on a room at CSR that was not even on the website. Another time I was online looking at dates and found a room that fit, and decided to call to see if there was anything better. Well, the CM said that they did not see any availability for the room/dates I requested. I said according to the website its available. They told me to go ahead and try to book it and see if it will let me, and I was able to book it online So yes, keep trying

Free dining is getting more and more popular, with less and less available dates. I'm not surprised at all with how fast the mods sold. Keep checking though. Their wonky system seems to free up places periodically.

Free Dining opened to general public on Monday - and alot of the moderates were booked SUPER quick - sorry you have missed out at this point, but keep checking! Hopefully something will pop up for you

It sounds like they had very, very few rooms available. People called and were on the phone a long time while agents looked for availability, as there were very few rooms allocated for the promotion this time.

There was apparently very limited availability for free dining this year, and not all resorts were available on all dates. They threw a curve ball this year, so anyone expecting the same as last year and thought they could wait, may have gotten left behind.
