Free Dining for DVC?

HI -

I am new to DVC. I always understood that Free Dining Codes were for cash reservations only.

I was having a conversation with one of my co-workers this morning and I am being told that her parents who have DVC have used the free dining code twice.

How is this possible?

Has DVC ever allowed guests to book free dining who are staying on points?

Those that stay on points, can not qualify for free dining. However, even DVC members can book a cash reservation like everyone else.

I would bet that when they take advantage of free dining, they do so by booking it through the promotional code and are not traveling on their membership.

They must have booked a cash reservation through CRO. Free dining requires a full price room purchase, which DVC is not.

That is what I thought it had to be as well.

And the newest "Free Dining" is requiring a 4 night minimum stay with a 5 day park ticket purchase, meaning many people will pay for a park day they can not use if they arrive late or have an early flight out.
