Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

Sorry if this has already been discussed, if so could you point me to the proper post #?

We are driving from Canada Nov 30th, staying in a house for a few days once we arrive in Orlando for Universal and Sea World, then I'm hoping to catch the tail end of FD in Nov. I've noticed there is a week that is blocked out at the beginning of Nov. Generally, the last day for FD is the last Saturday of Oct and starts back up the first Sunday of November. However, this year, the last day of Oct IS Saturday, Saturday Oct 31st. Can we then assume that FD will be offered until that date, and pick back up Sunday, Nov 8th?

Is the black out week due to Veterans Day?

I think that week is something called Jersey week -- apparently, half the state of New Jersey comes during that time. I take it you are talking in general terms of things offered/blacked out in past years? Or do you have some insider Canadian info?? :)

lol Totally not that cool. ;) I'm basing this in historical dates. :) I just had my reservations where Saturday is ON Oct 31st. Not sure if that makes any difference to Disney.

We have booked our trip and going either way. We really need a vacation! I'm on the fence about the MNSSHP. Anyone have a rough idea at how crowded the Sept dates tend to be for MNSSHP?
We were there on halloween in 2013. I believe they limit admission so the event isnt as crowded as a typical day at that time of year. We didn't do much trick or treating or character photos which i hear have insane wait times but ride waits were very reasonable.

This is a unique one, not sure anyone will be able to answer. I just got the Disney Visa credit card and I also have the debit card. If I use my debit card to put my deposit down and then use my credit card later to pay off the trip, does the 6 month 0% interest start from they day I made the deposit to book the vacation or from the day I used the credit card?

You will get 0% for 6 months for any trip amount charged over $200 on the credit card. Any debit card payments would not factor into your 0%. I just charged about half my remaining balance on the trip and will pay it off over the next 5 months and will pay the remaining balance and will have 6 months again at 0%. When I made the deposit last summer, I had 6 months at 0% on that amount too.

Some have mentioned that some resorts are already full during your stay...how can you tell?
You enter your dates on the website and where you're wanting to stay and it shows you your room options. If it says change search it means there is no availability.

DH & I went last Sept to the 1st party. Hardly any lines at any of the candy stations or for the rides. We didn't do any character greets as we didn't have the kids with us. But we did score 13.1 lbs of candy! We used the scale in our room at the GF to weigh the two bags. We're going again this year since we had so much fun last year!

That's awesome (on all accounts)!! LOL

The parties are *limited* sales. However, the limit is a pretty high number and from discussions seems to get higher year to year. We have not done the Halloween one yet, going on October 20TH. But at the Christmas one, rides never have long lines, but Fantasyland walkways always seem very crowded, character lines long and the parade and fireworks are packed. Later parade definitely better crowd wise. We always have a blast and get a ton accomplished despite the crowded areas.

That is a LOT of candy!!! Debating if we will bother with the candy stations. Hubby doesn't eat much so I would end up eating it all. LOL Also worried about ending up with a bag full of melted chocolate. Did you ever have the problem? At least it will be a little cooler by October 20TH.

What kind of candy do they hand out?

When we've gone, it's been all name brand good candy. We didn't bother with too many candy lines, only because both times when we were leaving the park...CMs filled my kids bags with tons of more candy!

Awesome :) I'm the candy eater in the family, and this makes me happy lol

There's a scale in the rooms? That's mean!

I had to go to Urgent Care last trip. I was so depressed when they weighed me after a week of Disney gorging.

We used a travel agent for the first time this year to book our vacation (I usually do it myself, but we had a voucher). If free dining comes out, I have always just called and updated my reservation. I assume my TA will need to do this for me. What if my current room is sold out under the promotion or not offered? I guess I need to have 2-3 backups for her to try? And since my trip is already paid for, will we have to start over to use my Disney Visa?

Thanks in advance!

I seem to have stopped getting email alerts for this thread, even though it still appears that I'm "watching" it. Don't want to miss the announcement when and if it happens lol! Bought my MNSSHP tix a couple days ago and got an email that they are estimated to arrive via UPS this Tuesday. Guess there is no turning back now whether free dining is offered or not! Better start putting money away with each paycheck in case it isn't, since the trip will be basically draining our Disney savings haha.

Countdown is at 162 days until we are with the mouse! It will be my husband and youngest daughter's first trip, and we will also be celebrating my mother's 70th b-day there. All she can talk about is getting back on Space Mountain while I worry about her neck and back. There's no stopping that woman though :P
Good for your 70 year old mother....the Disney Spirit never Dies!

Still waiting for the FREE DINNING offer eagerly! We are in mid-April! Here's HOPING it comes out early this year! AND....here's HOPING it comes out!

Yeah, the TA will need to call. I'd give her a few options so she can just go down the list until she gets something you're okay with.

If your trip is paid off they'll take a $200 payment from your DV and refund whatever overage there is back to the original payment method.

Eagerly awaiting FD, DH and I were suppose to do solo trip, 3 small kids under 11 but I feel guilty leaving them for Disney - LOL
I think we are taking them now and will love the FD if it's offered.
