Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

I am crunching numbers right now too and just came to a realization. It appears as though a package with tickets and room is slightly ($6 or so) higher at rack rate than the same room and tickets separately though disney. Maybe I am just tired and getting my numbers all crossed.

I'm sorry to see evidence that this part of the rumor could be true especially for those who it makes a big difference in their budget. We were split on whether to do it for my group so I guess it makes the decision easy if we are eligible for free dining.

I am worried now that the December 21 cut off rumor is true as well. :sad1: I went back to read the translation that I have and it says that there is "a possibility" that there may be a "few exceptions" for nights after December 21. I wonder what those "few exceptions" may be and what makes them a "possibility". Or is that their nice way of saying you're out of luck!

Makes sense. They tack on a few bucks for the package extras.

Ugh. Adding PH to our tickets is almost $350 for something I have no use for. I was really hoping that was off base, but now it is looking more likely. I'm also surprised and disappointed that a 6 night stay is going to be required. My mom was going to come with us (separate room and reservation) for part of the trip, but not for 6 days :( I am definitely doing some number crunching tonight!

We had a package last time. Thinking about booking RO this time and tickets separately. What exactly are the package extras?

The 2 water park visits, 2 putt putt admissions, 2 DQ admissions, and some coupons. It could have changed recently but that's an overview. Nothing we ever used.

We already booked PH and meet the 7 night requirement. I added Memory Maker this week so I'm hoping POR won't increase our cost to much. Our TA thinks it will probably be garden view or preferred. If so we will stay at CBR. I'm almost done paying this thing off and want the next 4 months to save souvenir money!
Oh and we told our girls today. Boy was I off base with what they would want. My soon to be 14 year old asked to have breakfast with princesses!

Hi, What are the resorts that are rumored to be excluded? I was planning on a mod, but may go to a value & upgrade to full service dining to save a little money. We were going for nine days, may take a day off and only stay for 8. I need to crunch some numbers. TIA
Rumored excluded: POR (past Oct 1?: someone please correct me if I'm wrong), POFQ, AS Movies, AoA Standard Mermaid Rooms, 3 bdrm villas at Deluxe & Fort Wilderness Campground sites. Please correct/update as I haven't gone back to sift through the posts.

Never knew 2 water park visits were included! This is our first year not getting the water park and more option, so good to know :)

Edit to add: I'm not seeing the water park admissions on the Magic Your Way page listing.

Another wrench in the plans. I saved $150 by switching from December to November for a 5 night/6 day stay. I am now trying to decide if it would save me that much to stay an extra day and add park hopper. It's only two of us going so the cost of the park hopper and an extra day is minimal.

Do RO discounts usually require the same length of stay? I may just bump our dining plan down to quick service, we aren't big eaters, and just do the RO discount for a savings.

Guess it's time to crunch numbers again. I just need to know if the RO discounts are going to require that same length of stay.

We are doing a short trip before our cruise. 3 nights and 2 days. I was excited about free dining till I heard the PH rumor. It is totally not worth it for us for only 2 days in the parks. I guess we could skip the Halloween party and get the park hopper instead. What would you all do. We are 2 adults and 2 kids. My girls wanted to do some character meals so that was what was making me want free dining in the first place.

Most of us are speculating here & trying to make sense of recent rumors right now. I'd see what happens on Monday or later in the week and ultimately decide what your family's priorities are in terms of the character meals & Halloween Party, etc. I wish you the very best.

If you're doing the Halloween party, you'll have that morning to go to another park, as your ticket is your entry into MK. So, you could see three parks in two days. That's what we would do, and we'd happily skip AK. It all depends on the stay limit for free dining, it might require more than a three night stay, which wouldn't work for you :(

Water park is not included in a package. There are a lot of discounts at DTD. A room only discount can be used for a one night stay. With a room only discount, you are required to pay the first night at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due upon check in. I usually have my balanced paid off prior to check in. This is a must if you want to use the direct to room option upon arrival at the resort.

Still hoping the park hopper requirement is not true :worried: It's really of no use to us and really doesn't become much a value then.

I get it, extra money for them without any added cost. A way to keep free dining available? I would have much rather seen a requirement for like photopass. Something we would use.

With the parties at MK and earlier park closing hours at the other parks that time of the year I can't understand the use of them for our family.

And I think I am in the same boat as you. I really like the Disney transportation. The Magical Express return to/from airport alone is a great perk. I have paid for taxi before to the Best Western near Disney and it was easily a $50 cab ride one way. And that was like 8 yrs ago. The tolls are nasty. And driving in Orlando ain't fun. I figure the value resorts, even with their higher "real-world" price tag, once all the transpo & advantages of earlier ADRs and Fastpass plus booking windows are worked in, are a very good deal for me to actually have a relaxing care-free vacation. I get to park my brain & walk away from work & real world craziness for a good spell. I just use my room as a safe, clean place to sleep and get cleaned up in the morning. Otherwise, I am in the parks full time. POP works very well for me. I also use the boat transpo from POR, POFQ, Fort Wilderness, etc as I enjoy the ride & it isn't restricted to mod or deluxe guests. Aubrav, I really hope your ressies work out well for you & your family! I have enjoyed your wonderful insights & extra time participating in this thread! On behalf of everyone following this thread, thank you so much for your hard work, your words of wisdom & your dedication!

Thanks so much for your kind words! I just love the Disney world right here in the thread and sometimes I comment more than I should just to feel a part of it. Everyone's experiences and questions make me relive my own experiences, so thank you and everyone else for making that possible :)

My husband is always the one in charge of the budget and coupons and information on vacation, so his experience with the free dining plan on property blew him away. He didn't have to think or worry about anything at all. I think that's why he felt the need to use the laundry facilities on property, so he could feel like he was in charge of something lol.

And yes, in the one in charge of the planning ;)

I knew when I came back to the boards and it had jumped 4 pages in a few hours that something had happened rumor wise. Hmmm, so PH rumor looking to be more true than rumor now it appears.
I'm thinking that I better be ready to call Monday for a possible Public offer as I'm starting to wonder if they are skipping DVisa again.
