Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

I have booked my resort already but have not added the dining If it isn't free i will Pay oop, will this have any impact on my pressies whenI book 180 days out? I figured I would book them all and if I have to cancel some in May I will?

As far as I know, Black has no plans to return, and I can't say I blame him. I bailed on the last two FD threads last fall due to the number of complainers and people who took it upon themselves to harass Chase employees until they gave out codes and then demanded CMs to use them when they were not supposed to. Some here were simply pixie dusted by CMs who were not aware of the one day delay of the release, and when they posted they got free dining, they were called liars. If people can't appreciate info they are given in advance, they no longer get it in advance. Simple as that. Good luck to those hoping to get free dining this year. Hopefully someone new will come along and divulge some info, but don't expect it to be Black.

I agree. Black was so helpful and some people were out of control. There is no reason for rude posts. I too had someone last year give me a hard time and I am a newbie. I just dont get people.

No, you should be able to cancel with no penalties, or if you have the dining plan attached later, that should be fine. Your dining ressies are not attached to your dining plan, per se. So, you can make all your ressies 180 days out (if you have a resort ressie, you get 180+days of your ressie). You can then add of cancel later. Payment is only an issue when you are at the table paying. Does that answer our question?

Good to see your post, Smitch. You were always right along Black with great, consistent information. Yes, the liar thing was hard to watch. Folks were slipping through with some pre-release pixie dust. Rather than people saying, "Good for you!" they were calling these lucky few trolls, liars, and pot-stirrers. So very shameful and sad. I find the anticipation and these FD boards actually a fun process! The day that FD finally comes out, it is exhilirating to see all the posts! Here's hopin'!

I know you can report inappropriate commentators and comments. That could be a start to keeping things kind.

I'm of the opinion that early information on discounts is privileged, heck discounts are a privilege; we should be grateful, not rude. The DIS is for people who love Disney, not for people trying to save a buck no matter who they have to insult or stomp on to do so, at least that's how I see it.

That being said, I'm really hoping for Free Dining, or at least a Room Discount (they run about the same for our family). Either one would be very helpful to our budget!

The only issue you might run into is with prepaid booking, such as CRT, where if you later add the dining plan, you have to deal with trying to get your payment refunded to use your dining credits - I have heard this work differently for different people - in my experience, the phone reservation person told us we had to rebook a new reservation with credits, and then cancel our prepaid, which meant a new dining time... we didn't want to wait until arrived to try and get our money refunded, but it did mean our dining time changed.

In my experiences, the information seems to be available here on the boards first. Also, I like being in control of my reservation. On our very 1st trip several years ago we booked through AAA and our TA did not even know about free dining.

My problem is that I bought UT tickets So, I would have to add 2-3 days worth of park tickets to my reso, oh and add days to my trip. May be better to just get the room discount (if available).

It really is a shame that people get so worked up about an EDUCATED GUESS (because, really, thats all it is) about a free dining release date being incorrect. The way I look at it is if your trip to Disney DEPENDS on the dier need for free dining then maybe you should take a little more time to save up some funds... OR be more flexible with your dates to accomodate whenever the dates are released.

I can't wait to see the uproar when Disney stops the free dining offer altogether.

Hopefully there is someone out there with insight like Black's that can help people out without getting their head chewed off.

Anyone who went and did something costly and possibly irrevocable like booking airfare based on a message board poster's "educated guess" is going to be angry when the guess turns out not to be correct, it's still no excuse. Especially when they ignored posters who stated that nothing is official until Disney says it is.

THIS EXACTLY!! If people absolutely need the free dining then they are going to have to be flexible with booking everything else. INCLUDING waiting until you actually HAVE the free dining to book things like flights... OR suffer the consequences if Free Dining doesnt end up falling in your dates.
