FREE DINING- combined with AAA rate??

After exhaustive calculations - no, I'm kidding, it was relatively simple (using Excel, not my brain ;)) it looks like you're saving 5% off rack rate.

Interesting. I have no idea where that's coming from, but I'll take it  Seems like it should either be 0% or 15%. Why 5%? Anybody know?

Thanks for checking it out!

Once you get the printed itinerary, you'll know. 5% is not an AAA discount amount. In fact, there's no code for it. Your TA couldn't have secured free dining without using one of the two codes previously listed.

By the way, another DISser thought her numbers were off, too, after booking AAA and free dining, and it turned out she wasn't booked for free dining at all. If your numbers don't match disneyworld.com, I'd call that TA back to verify.

Have a great trip anyhooo!

:cool2: We're gonna wear the heck out of that Poly pool

Just an FYI... that rate does NOT include insurance. You were deducting that from your calculations initially. If you want insurance, best to call your TA back!

Have fun in that pool!!!!

I'll double check. I had insurance on my initial booking with her. She was just supposed to add free dining, so I don't know why I wouldn't have insurance now, but I'll make sure it's on there. I think it's important, especially during hurricane season.

... I think it's important, especially during hurricane season.

When I asked if insurance covered weather-related cancellations, they said it does not. If that is your main concern, you may want to double-check and then read the policy just for good measure.

my AAA TA told me that their clients get preference for room requests like connecting rooms. does anyone know if this is true??? otherwise im not sure if my AAA ressie is worth it over booking myself since i cant call disney directly if i use AAA.

If you book the package and pay for it with your AAA Diamond Credit card you will get 2 percent off the cost of the package.

Check out the credit card, it also offers a number of other benefits Dis'ers will love.

Its a great credit card !!!! 3% off all gas purchase when you use the card.

$50.00 vouchers to be used for disney packages or any AAA product.

I did double check on the insurance and no, insurance was not included when the package was ammended to include the free dining. Now it has been added. Thanks to ExPirateShopGirl for pointing that out to me. :)

My AAA Agent tried to get us both discounts. She said it was a change in the system and you could only put in one code. She thinks to prevent double discounts. It is ok with us, still a great deal even with rack rate. If you have a AAA visa you get 2% back on any trip charged to that card too.

One of the things that makes things confusing is that the agents I talked to simply don't know very much. Between my sister and me we talked to 4 different AAA agents over the week and each one of them was convinced that the rates they quoted included a "AAA discount" (which they didn't).

For what it's worth, the agent my sister booked though in Madison, WI called back two days later to say that she needed to pay a $30 booking fee. I understand that agents are getting squeezed these days by hotels and airlines but I always thought that Disney did pretty well by agents. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, she canceled the booking on principle (if there is a fee, you better say something upfront) and I booked it through the AAA office here in Oregon. No fee here. Most of the agents around here don't book huge numbers of Disney World (lots of Disneyland though). When the agent here got the quote for <$650 total for 3 adults for 4 nights including free food she was beside herself. She never would have dreamed it could be that cheap.

That brings up a massive pet peeve of mine. I feel sorry for agents that are getting squeezed, but my experience with them is that I consistently know more than they do regardless of the destination. This includes destinations I have never actually been to. A very modest amount of research on the Internet saves me far more time and money than an agent ever saves me. I'm all for supporting agents either by indirect commission or by a direct fee if they aren't getting a comission, but only if I actually get a service that would either be better quality or faster than I could do myself. As it is I constantly feel that I am educating them.

I can't believe this is being brought up again..lol. This issue has been exhausted over the last 2 years, and the result has always been the same. You cannot book a AAA discount with the free dining promotion.

I tried for 2 years (compulsive, I know) and it just cannot be done..and believe me I've tried and made senseles logic out of this topic:lmao:

You cannot combine AAA discount with the free dining promo. You can still get the AAA "perks" but no additional discount of any kind can be combined with this promo from all I've read and personal experience.

It's been figured that the cost difference was usually insurance or a booking fee. Just my .02

Sorry. The search feature just doesn't doesn't seem to work on these boards. For us infrequent or new posters, there is just a ton of info to wade through and we may have to ask questions that have been asked before.

I second this. If anyone is curious, you should go to the "Codes" board under "Resorts" and you'll find lots more about it.
