Free Dining booking question

Here's a question. If I book a package today, can I just call on May 7 and have the free dining applied to it? Also, I want to upgrade from QS to Reg DDP, should I book quick service and call to upgrade it when I have the discount applied or book DDP from the beginning and they will just charge me the difference?

It depends upon the availability of the resort. We booked in January and plan top add on the 7th.

You can book now and add or change on May 7, but remember that you may need to change room types or even resorts to get the free dining. While the resort in general may have rooms available in all categories, they earmark a certain number of rooms for the free dining promotion and as those rooms sell out, a category or even whole resort can disappear from the deal. Having the room booked in advance does not help you avoid that.

Honestly, since it is so close to the 7th, the only advantage to booking today would be if you hit your 180 days window for ADRs between now and then.

We did this last year to beat the rush, but it still comes down to availability they have set aside for DDP rooms for that resort. When we called back they didn't have the rooms so we needed to change resorts anyway.
