Free Dining at Moderates?

Looking to go around Sept 22.

And it seems that all of the moderates are booked except CBR. We have heard terrible things about CBR - "it is just like a value resort, so save your money and go to All Stars..."

French Quarter, Riverside, or Coronado Springs get much more favorable reviews...

I can check online and see that rooms are available, but whenever I try to add free dining to it I am blocked.

Am I stuck with CBR or Value?

Check out the dedicated CBR thread.. lots of big CBR fans on there. Or look at the pictures of CBR in the resort photos forum to get a feel. I haven't even been there yet (going this summer) but you can see from the photos that it's nothing like the values. It has beautiful landscaping, bigger rooms than any of the mods (and MUCH bigger than the value rooms.) There are boat rentals, a huge lake, playgrounds, beaches and hammocks, and a gorgeous zero entry pool with slides and a childrens water play area with a pirate theme. You can see the Epcot fireworks from the main building as well.
2 drawbacks..it's very large, and double beds.
I wasn't thrilled about the double beds but we did just fine on our first 3 or 4 trips when CSR and POR had doubles so it's really not the end of the world. The issue of size can be gotten around by booking a preferred room or requesting a village that is a close walk to the pool and food court.
I love POR but we just stayed there. CSR was booked solid (and we've stayed there twice) and despite the mad love for POFQ on these forums.. it's one mediocre pool with a small slide wasn't going to cut it for my kids. The food court menu didn't appeal to us much either. So we're giving CBR a try. I could end up hating it.. but I don't think I will. I'd take it over a value any day.

Other rooms may open up if people cancel but make sure to make your own mind up about CBR. I wasn't too interested either until I started looking into everything myself, and now I am really excited!

There is also a concurrent 25% room discount for Moderates. I would go that route, and have more flexibility with your dining (vs. being tied to the dining plan). Or get behind CBR. I'm sure there are many who love it there. As PP mentioned, look at their discussion thread.

My family is staying at CBR for our first time this Aug. I recently read some of the CBR thread that Pigletto suggested, and I am very much looking forward to staying there. I don't see it as a negative at all. Hope you have a great trip.

I've stayed at CBR 3 times, loved it. The grounds remind me of the Polynesian.

I'm super excited about staying at CBR this fall. The pool looks amazing. Like Pigletto said, come read the CBR thread, hopefully that will perk you up. :)

We love CBR but due to the size of our family we would need two rooms now. We are going to be staying at Riverside this time an hope it compares to our beloved CBR.

We love how quite it is, because it is spread out does not feel like you are bumping into people. The grounds are so pretty with the white sand beach to play on. Sunrise and sunsets are so pretty. The bright colors are so fun. The kids love the main pool. :beach:

My DM needed to rent a scooter her last trip as it was too hard to get around the resort even with her walker. If mobility is not an issue it is an awsome resort.

We ended up just changing to CBR 2 weeks ago when we realized that we can save over $200 by changing from POR to CBR for our Sept 9-15 trip. I was less than thrilled, CBR would have been my last choice, seems like I have read lots of negative reviews on it...However, I really looked at the threads here about CBR and there are SO many loyal fans! I am actually getting excited about staying here now! Plus I hear the pool is really good, and we will use our pool a lot so that's important to us...

I have stayed at CBR and a value, Pop. CBR is much nicer than Pop. It is quieter and the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are bigger and the bed is much more comfortable. I would go for CBR. Values only get quick service with free dining. You can pay to upgrade your dining but I would rather put the money toward a moderate hotel. People complain about the size, so you might want to get a preferred room or at least request a building close to the main pool and dining. Also there are no elevators at CBR. If you can't do stairs, you need to request a bottom floor.

I have stayed at CBR and ASMov. I would pick CBR over a value resort in a heartbeat. The value resorts are just too crowded and loud for me. CBR was much quieter and more relaxed.

True. It is probably my least favorite of the mod resorts, but it does have it's charms. The grounds are really beautiful. The pool is fantastic. And, the food court was pretty nice as well.

Also, take into consideration that mods come with a better dining plan, not just the QS version. For that reason alone I would go with CBR over any of the values. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

My family loves CBR. It is the resort we always stay at when visiting Disney. W

We LOVE CBR!!! We've stayed value, mod, and deluxes and we LOVE CBR!!!! It's like a carribbean vacation within your vacation.

We stayed at CBR I'm 2009 and had a great time. We never had a problem with the buses and didn't have to walk far to get to the bus stop. They have a great zero entry pool with two slides and have a great water area for kids under 48." We didn't think the resort was that much bigger than POR.

I was just fiddling around to see about discounts etc and I found POFQ with availability for free dining from Sept 21-30, it was a riverview room for $2600 for 9 nights.

Try this morning.

I liked CBR enough to stay there twice. I've visited value, and to me I think CBR far exceeds it. The buses are great. Sure, now that I've seen POR I love it much more, but for free dining, don't feel bad about CBR - it's still a great resort. Besides, if you stay at a value you only get the quick service dining and not the regular like you do at a moderate. You'll have a great time!

I've stayed at Pop and at CBR and it is no comparison - CBR beats the pants off of Pop. It was so peaceful and quiet compared to the constant chaos and cacophony of Pop. And my two year old loved the beach and playground as well as the pool. Food court food was not half bad, either (I didn't care for Pop food, even though it gets such rave reviews) but I never bothered with the TS place there b/c I heard it was bad.

CBR is FAR from a Value resort. It is a very beautiful resort.

It is our favourite Mod's..and we are VERY picky travellers.

We have stayed at CBR twice and we will be going back again in September. We love it!
