Free Dining AP Question

From what I recall, all you have to do to get free dining is buy tickets for one day - ie MYW 1 day for all members in your party. My question is this if we have APs and do this so that we can get the free dining - when will those tickets that we don't need this time expire? For instance could I save them for my 2yr to use at spring break when he will be 3, but we still have valid APs? Does this make sense?

Thanks

IF - and that is a very large IF.....if the package details are the same as last year, then yes, all you would need to include in your package for park tickets is one base MYW ticket one day ticket per person.

AND yes, those tickets would be on your room key.

AND yes, if you never use that room key for park admission, they are then never activated and they then never expire.

i did this very thing last year(used my APs for park admission during our enitre stay) and plan to use these unused tickets as credit towards the purchase of new AP's this year. (could not use the credits towards AP renewal, but only towards new APs)

the only stickler is about letting the 2 year old use them when they get old enought to need park admission....because the tickets have names on them would they not be able to be transfered.....OR.....because they never were activated, and therefore have no finger scan associated with them, could they be used by someone else???? that is the big question. maybe someone else here can answer that.

They can be used by anyone because they haven't been used yet :D I had a friend send me an extra one day ticket from free dining and I had no problems using it all because it wasn't a "transfer" as it had never been used before

The only thing I wanted to throw in was that you might not want your 3 yo to us an adult admission ticket.

I went last year with a party of 7 and 3 of us (2 adults, 1 child) had AP's. So we had 3 unused 1 day tickets. I was able to get those tickets removed from the room keys and put onto a blank (NO NAME) card but it took a couple of tries. I started at guest relations at a park and they said resort and resort said park til someone overheard them and said no we do that here. So if you can find someone who knows how to do it at the resort it can be done. We upgraded 1 adult ticket in Dec to a 4 day ticket and I used the child's ticket to purchase a new AP for my DS. When I got home I realized the my DS's AP said it will expire in August not Dec so I called Disney and they had me talk to the "ticket office" and I was assured that it was an easy fix to get the AP to read Dec expire.

I also asked if I could renew my AP with the pass and was told yes so I really hope that works in May.

My understanding is that you can only use 1 ticket when upgrading so you could upgrade a ticket from free dining to use for your DS in the spring but you probably wouldn't want to use lots of 1 day tickets as they are much more expensive than a multi day ticket.

You also had to purchase as a package, with rooms at rack rate (no discounts such as AP, etc), everybody in the room had to be on the same package and there was a minimum/maximum length of stay :goodvibes

Hope they offer it this year for all the DIS'ers waiting so patiently!

:yay:
