Free Dining - Announced vs. Offered???

I have read rumors about Free Dining possibly being offered beginning April 7-10. My question is (based on years past), how long before the offer date do they announce it? One week, one day...?

I am pretty new to this and have been trying to find that out as well. A friend of mine thought that last year it was about a week prior to the date you could book. If she was correct we should be seeing something soon. I would like to hear from someone that is a little more certain than my friend.

Last year FD was announced April 12 or so, but was for the dates August 26th to the general public. Visa cardholders got the announcement three days before it opened to the general public.

I do not know if those are the exact dates but it was close to that.

How are Disney Visa cardholders made aware of the FD offer? I have a Disney Visa, so where do I need to be checking?

I would think Disney Visa holders could
book starting the 7th? If 10th is true?
Thus less than two weeks (10 days)
Each day that goes by without another rumor is not good IMO.
Last year on 3/16th all was known (dates etc.) via rumor!
Someone probably would have leaked it by now !
People enjoy cracking the news or rumor first!
I find it hard to believe that nothing has leaked
We are now 12 days past last years rumor date....

There is no 'announcement' before the offer. The day the offer is open to book is the day that it is "announced".

So are you saying that if I receive an email from Disney Visa with a FD offer, I need to be ready to pick up the phone and make my reservation?

So when it's announced you can pick up the phone and book it? I have a Disney Visa, but I just got it last week - so I am afraid we might miss a Disney Visa annoucement. Of course I'll be checking here everyday (or 10 times a day!).

Actually last year it was announced to Disney Visa Cardholders on April 1st and was opened to the public a little over a week later. We booked right away for our second year of Free Dining!

Oh and we booked without receiving the email of the offer. As long as we had a Disney Visa Card we could book at that time.

Last year, Disney also "accidentally" posted an advertisement for the Dining Plan. It was one of those images (Goofy in a chef's uniform) along the right side of the page which are "clickable".

The URL the ad took you to was a blank page, but a careful read of the URL's address showed it was clearly the DDP link.

Shortly after it was up, Disney removed it, but many on this website saw the ad and caught the address. It was a humorous diversion while we all awaited the release of the code.

We were never notified by the visa company. I found out here on the Dis ! Don't rely on them to let you know of specials.

I found out about free dining here on the Dis. DVisa did not send me anything to inform me about the promotion.

Great advice. Watch the DIS! Last year we were at WL (Aug 30-Sept 3)during bounceback and knew nothing about it until I got home and saw it here. They said it was announced on resort TV. We don't watch a lot of resort TV when we are at the world!
