Free Dining and Park Ticket ?

Our dates are 8/23 - 8/31 and are not flexible. If free dining begins 8/24 - I understand I will need to start a new reservation beginning 8/24 to get in on the free dining. My plan is to add an extra night RO using AAA discount to the beginning of the stay.

My question though is about the park tickets. If I purchase enough park ticket days with our package to cover 8/23, will they be available for us to use on our arrival date, even though they belong to the 8/24 start date package? Or do I have to wait til I check in for the second reservation to use those park tickets??

We were hoping to see Spectro and Wishes on our arrival night, so if anyone knows a sensible work-around please weigh in!

The admission bought with a package start on the arrival of your package. So your first night as a room only would not include the park tickets attached to your package.
There's LOTS to do without going into a park for one day though.

Yeah, I'm thinking we might do Disney Quest that day (we are not getting the Water Parks and more option on our tickets) so we'll have those tickets separate anyway. Just wondering if there was another work around I hadn't thought of...

I remember that many people had this same question two years ago when FD was offered and there was NO way around it. In fact, I remember someone posting that it hadn't occurred to them until check-in that their tix were connected to their second reservation and they "lost" 3-4 days of park time waiting and reservations would not budge on their position. Luckily for you it's only one day and DQ is a blast. We'd never been before and went last year. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I have room only ressies at Pop for Oct 3 - 6. No tickets yet because I'm not sure what we are doing other than MNSSHP on the 5th (arriving the 3rd, probably just resort hand or do DTD, hopefully Typhoon Lagoon on Sat, 4th weather permitting). No dining booked either because I figured me and DD5 would just wing it and not be tied to anything.

BUT, if free dining is offered, can I still take advantage with just a room ressie?

Room only means room only.
The DDP (free or not) is part of a WDTC package, which has specifics on dates of booking, travel, stay maximum and minimum, MYW ticket purchase, etc.

Free dining will probably not be offered for Oct. Rumored dates have free dining ending Sept. 20th.No rumors or opinions have that date any later than the 27th.
We usually go in Oct. and the promotions for Oct. usually arrive in Aug. and in the past have been about 20% off of your room or the room portion of a pkg. You will love Oct. but not with free dining, sorry!
