I know in 2007 we had annual passes and were able to purchase MYW packages with free dining and just had to buy a 1 day 1 park ticket in order to qualify for the free dining.

Does anyone know if that has changed? Anyone purchase free dining packages in 2011 and not buy length of stay admission passes?

We're thinking of taking a quick trip for the weekend 9/16-9/18 so we would need 3 days of admission for that weekend. Just want to do MNSSHP. Then want to do 10 days next April/May. We'll really be doing 2 weeks but only 10 days in the parks. So need 13 days of admission and I'm thinking annual passes is the best way to go.

But we're hoping we'll be able to get a free dining promo for the April/May trip but if we have annual passes and the only way to get free dining is to purchase length of stay park tickets, then I may need to rethink the whole thing.

Any advice or experience with this situation in 2010 or 2011 would be greatly appreciated.

Mods feel free to move this if this isn't the correct forum to place this.

Thanks!

3-day MYW tickets? Did it change again? Last I heard it was a minimum 2-day MYW ticket requirement. I think the minimum free dining stay is 3 nights, however.

Aside from that, I agree with the above -- you'll have to pay rack rate for the room plus the 2-day tickets for each member of the party. For a long enough stay with enough people, that might make sense, but you might want to consider other potential discounts and price them out to what free dining would actually cost you.

It's a 2 day ticket for free dining; I don't believe that has changed from this year.

exactly. I'm an annual passholder and we are going this december. We had to purchase 2 day base tickets for our group that we can save for a future trip or even put towards the cost of our AP Renewals if we wanted.

Excellent! That is what I was hoping. 2 day base tickets aren't bad at all. We can save them to use at a later date.

I didn't realize you could put them towards the cost of the Annual passes. We have 4 one day tickets left over from 2007 that we still haven't used from doing this exact same thing. I wonder if we could use them, 2 per person or even 1 per person to help us save some money on the annual passes?
I realize this is the dining plan forum. I'll have to post this question in another forum and see if anyone knows.

Thanks for the info and ideas!

An upgrade (like MYW to AP) is taking a single ticket and paying the difference between that ticket and the wanted item. You can only use one ticket towards an upgrade (except in situations of using a waterpark ticket).
