Hi everyone,
Got an AP this last year cause we will have 2 trips within a 12 month period totaling 19 days. We typically rent points to stat at DVC properties. We are going with another couple at the end of October and although my preference is to share a two bedroom at Wilderness so we can use the boat access to MK they are more budget conscious than we are. I know that there is no guarantee that there will be free dining this year but if there was the most economical thing for them I believe is a moderate paying bunk rate.

Since they have no passes they can do everything through Disney to get the free dining (if offered). Question is though, if my family stayed at a moderate instead of a DVC points rental, would we be able to get the free dining or are we out of luck because if the AP?

A friend who lives near the park mentioned that we might be able to do the moderate hotel for the 9 days but buy just a one day ticket for each person in the family ($400ish) and that would get us the Free dining for the 9 days cause of the length of stay at the hotel.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to go for this family. The little girl that is going frankly could be a candidate for give kids the world. She just had heart valve replacement. Our family is at WDW pretty consistent and we thought we knew most of the answers to things but this one eluded us. Thanks for the input.

If you are booking for free dining, you must purchase the required tickets for that (two days maybe?). With an AP, you can purchase the dining plan without buying other tickets.

For the majority of the last 8 years we did Free Dining we had to purchase a two day ticket. I would hold the ticket and use it towards renewing our AP.
