Free Dining 2014 Discussion

Tried pricing out some back-up options for mid-Sept in case we need to switch for FD (currently at POFQ on room discount PIN) but results are showing absolutely no availability for either CBR or CBR. Anyone else experiencing this? Are they really fully booked? Seems odd given their size and that POR and POFQ are usually the more popular mods.

I did not expect to book anything until July/August for our October trip. Now I'm trying to remember from last time I booked free dining--do I just need a $200 deposit on the Disney Visa? Or do I have to pay half now?

I know that everyone says that they do not hold back rooms getting ready for promos, but I have to believe that is true. Can't imagine that CBR and CSR would not have availability--that is about 4000 rooms, I think??!!

Man, I really hope this is wrong. Was planning on the November FD to end on the Saturday before thanksgiving like last year. What a bummer.

Ok so this may seem like a silly question, but on the day you call for FD, what exactly do you ask for? Lol And do ppl just ask the cm for the dates and resorts that are available to book? Or do you go in with everything figured out first and simply tell the cm exactly what you want? I have never had the opportunity to go to disney during a FD period so I'm stressing out over doing this right and not making a complete fool of myself!!! I consider myself a seasoned disney freak but I have learned so much from reading this thread!!!

Called the other day and was told pins already sent out (or so that cm told me. We know we get different info from different cms)

I called and was told only pins through August 28 have been sent. Cms always have different answers.

Well my projected dates fall in the Free Dining dates, but I really need to know the RO rates to price out the better deal. I could hope for 35% but even 30% would make RO my best bet. However if it falls in the 20s then I might be better with FD.

Guess I'll be up at godawful early Thursday morn.

I so hope they really are releasing all of those dates on Thursday. The relief of having it all booked and being able to do ADRs, instead of waiting anxiously and not knowing....

I am really disappointed by these free dining dates. We check in on October 23rd so no free dining for us . Hoping they tweak the dates before they release them but I highly doubt it. Happy for those whose dates fall in the free dining special.

That was my reaction too. Maybe it's just a system glitch. Now it's showing me an option for a standard room only. Those are usually first to go! Oh well, thankfully not too long until GP release to find out for sure.

I did not notice at first just how limited the dates are, because the idea that they were releasing dates through December this early surprised me so much. We will have to shift our dates by a few days. I do wonder, though, if they are releasing these dates earlier so they have time to assess and possibly add more by the usual July/August time frame?

Minnie, I have never received a PIN in my life that I am aware of, and am subscribed to just about everything! I know that is a common plight, but I wish that the Big Dis would throw this fella' a bone!

Have you ever gone on the website and customized maps for a trip? I suggested that a friend do this who never received a PIN. She did as I told her and a little under 2 months she received a PIN. They ask you what date you plan to go. Choose a date and when they see you have not booked by that date they sent me a Pin saying we see you are thinking about coming... how about a savory deal everyone can sink their teeth into.

I know some people say that when you always go they will not send you a PIN because they know they have you hooked. But all I can say it did work for my friend and for me. I had gone every 3-5 years so perhaps that had something to do with it but now with my daughter I plan on going much more often. Hope that doe snot stop the PINS from coming. I did just get one a couple weeks back but for travel up to June.

I have never called to see if one is attached to my name, though. We were going every three years, then every two, and now we are down to every one!! Can't get enough of that Disney . . .
