Hello, this is my first post from Argentina! Alligator Bayou has preferred and non-preferred rooms. I stayed at building 16, which is not preferred but is also near the food court.
If you are a group of 5 you will definitely stay at that section as it is the only one with the Murphy bed.
In a POR site I read it was advisable to send a fax requiring a certaing location in the hotel. I did so (4 times, in the week before I got there), and I got what I wanted. (I knew that out of the non preferred rooms the building 16 was the best, and it really was!).
Also hoping to be back there in October, same resort and building... and FDP if possible!!!

Awesome! Welcome to our happy place!
Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the fax. Yes we are group of 5 :cool1:

Joe do u think there is any chance they will announce fd on thursday for dv or is it more likely it will be on the 28Th?

May 1st is most likely the Visa date, as there is also overtime coming the following week (May 5).

There will be someone calling on Mondays and Thursdays regardless, just to check.

I have been spending way too much time on these boards. I read "DMV" and thought to myself, i don't know that acronym...hmm maybe its Disney Magic Vacations or Disney Monthly Videos... I almost searched for the acronym list before it hit me.

I need a vacation.

Sorry! Division of Motor Vehicles?? Lol... :)

you can get further info on portorleans.org
read under Rooms and Rates. I think there is a section on best locations por each Port Orleans.

Good luck!

I just want to know what the overtime for those TA's today were for now? I mean, what are they planning on doing, rearranging their sock drawer? :rotfl2:

If anything, this may actually make the dates a bit more clear. Still, I don't think it hurts a thing to keep tabs by calling. They get annoyed, but ya know...they should just expect these things at this point.

:confused3

Seeing how there is no FD today, definitely not their tights drawers....

Bahahaha! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

So we're thinking we will have to wait for May? I'll just keep obsessing over my ADRs until then. I can always find something to tweak!

SOOOOO glad it's not just me doing that!!! I have three scenarios based on the final day for Sept FD offered!

Same here. If I have nothing to stalk on here....i will move to the Disney website and hunt down and stalk for the ADR we decided to add and is not available. Imagine that, we got a prime BOG and OHANA dinner, and now can't get garden grill.:confused3 I'm sure I could have got it at 180, but now we changed our minds on another one and my parents and kids out voted our coral reef and want garden grill. So, since were pretty sure its going to be at least Thursday or next week, I will stalk someplace else:rotfl:

I have my days picked out and have been tweaking the ressies for what seems like months now. Waiting to see when and if free dining falls on my dates. I have BOG at 4:30 before a Halloween party and I happened to luck into a Fireworks Dessert party which I understood could not be booked more than 60 days out. I got mine at 160 days out. So I switched my LTT dinner to a lunch and some how managed to cancel the lunch I had booked there the previous week as well. So I now have no reservations for one day. I also have 2 Akershus breakfasts and 3 Rose and Crowns. I know that the minute I give up one of them the dates will come out and I will have canceled the one I actually need.

I am sooooooo confused!!!!! It would just be soooooo much easier if they would call me up and say "hey, we heard you were having difficulty planning so we decided to give you the promotion of your choice." Then I would have to decide if I wanted the Poly with a room discount or free dining!!!! I can't win.

You can also check the POR-R thread under Disney resorts here on the Dis. The person who runs portorleans.org is always monitoring that thread. His name is Andrewilley, him and Venomhatch are very knowledgeable about POR and are always answering questions.

Pretty sure that andrewilley IS the fella who created and runs the Port Orleans website - it is AWESOME! In fact, when I need site specific info about Port Orleans (R or FQ) I will head there before I hit the Disney site!! Seriously any question you have can be found within that site - he even posts the activity schedules when they come out, no stone unturned there!!!

Yes, he does to a really great job. I wish someone would do this for all the Disney resorts!

I have spent all day making protest signs about no offer today. Black said we might have something come out today, but no offer. So...I want my money back. Hmmm...I didn't pay anything for his advice. Ummm, ok...I want an apology for every promise broken. Hmmmm...no promises were made, just educated guesses, and each time with a disclaimer that no promises were made. But I DESERVE free dining....oh, ok, I don't deserve free dining, it is just nice if Disney offers it. So.....I guess I have no reason to be upset with Black, just thankful for his FREE information that he kindly and willingly shares with fellow Disney fans to give us hope that a great offer is probably on the way. Black is being a super guy that is helping all of us and has offended no one. Ok, forget that I posted.

Oh you just made my head hurt with all that. :scared1:

What about the rooms with the murphy bed(or whatever its called I had a CM correct me on calling it a murphy bed) are they only in Alligator Bayou? and I don't remember what the CM called it, my brain wasn't worried about it at the time, so I have NO idea what she called it LOL

I have found a great deal if info about POR on this website- it's portorleans .org (can't post links yet!)
It's the "unofficial site." One thing I think I read is that with the 2011 or 2012 remodel is that all rooms have a Murphy bed. They USED to be called "trundle beds"-and those were only in some of the rooms. But I'm pretty sure I read that all rooms have the new Murphy bed now. I feel like sometimes I call and they know all about it, and sometimes I'm filling them in. The only other place I did some more extensive reading about POR is here: go to the easyWDW website and on the right column look for resort reviews- lots of pics, too!

I haven't been- so I don't claim to be an expert- but I have this new little habit of reading everything I can about our trip and trying to be super informed! Hope that helps!!

All rooms in Alligator Bayou have the fold down bunk for 5th person. Not all rooms in POR have the bunk tho. Only the AB section.

I KNOW!!! We have never stayed at Carribean Beach, but I have been hearing rumors that they are installing the same Murphy beds that are in the AB section of POR during the refurb that is happening now. I have scoured the web wishing there were a site for CBR that is like Andre's Port Orleans site, but no such luck. I am following a few threads here to see what I can find out. I just LOVE POR, so I really don't think I'd venture away, but if this rumor is true, it is nice to know that Disney may be adding to their options of accommodations for families of 5 outside of Deluxe and suites :)
