Free Dining 2013

You can be booked already and still get PINs. Every year we receive a PIN and we have always been booked already.

I got a pin after I already booked, too.;)

Your pin was for the dates you already have booked, right? (e.g., You weren't booked for September and then got the Oct-Dec pin). I hear about Disney doing this, but it sure doesn't make sense to me. You would think they wouldn't send a discount to someone who has already booked. BUT, I sure hope they do!

I have 3reservations at the Beach Club, garden view. My husband and I, my daughters family of 4 and my sons family of 4. I got the free dining on May 6th when DV holders could get it. This saved us about $2,700. As I was comparing numbers I noticed that my husband and I did better with the 30% off. I called to change To 30% off instead of free dining. Only pool view was available for the discount. It would have cost me $250 more than what I am paying now. I kept what I have.

oh my goodness! I hope I get a pin. I've been watching since people started talking about it. I did call and the CM said I don't have one associated with my name. She did say that if I was going to get an email one, I should have already received it in the last wave. My trip isn't until 8/31 so I'm still crossing my fingers. I miss the current FD plan by 2 days!

Just a side note here. If any of you are in Oklahoma, I hope you're all alright. The images are unreal.

Well, it's crunch time for me. We are planning to go in November, and the dates on the pin include our planned check-in date (Nov. 19). My 180+10 day is this Thursday, so I really want to have a reservation with dining so I can take advantage of the plus 10 and so I don't have to pay out-of-pocket for CRT and Hoop-Dee-Doo. Will making a reservation reduce my chances of getting a pin? I've played around on the website for months, requested the DVD and maps, all in hopes of getting a pin, but I didn't get one in the first round. (I have, in the past, gotten a pin during the second wave, but I didn't have a reservation at the time.) How many of you got the pin when you already had a trip booked for the dates included in the pin?

Another idea--I thought about booking a solo trip for my husband and linking his reservation number to our dining plans so we get the +10 and don't have to pay OOP (I'm thinking if the person making the reservation has the dining plan, you don't have to pay up front, no matter how many are in the party). Then, I wouldn't be on the reservation and could still get the pin. Is this silly? The whole reason we are checking in on the 19th is because this day has been included in free dining in the past. Really hoping I can get the pin or they will release it to Vist/GP!

Making resort or dining reservations isn't really going to affect you getting pin code. Pin codes are very random - they are sent to people who have never been to Disney, to people who go to Disney all the time, people who have existing reservations, who don't have reservations, the variables are endless.

How many nights are you staying? If you are staying 5 or more, you could make a room only reservation for the first 2 nights and then start a FD package on Sept 2.

So amazingly sad. Kind of makes me feel like a shmuck for worrying so much about free dining. There certainly are so many things to be grateful for. (Not that it makes me want it any less though. :( )

I am praying for all those effected by the storms both in Texas a week or so ago and now in Oklahoma.

I know it's crazy. I am booked for September and got the pin covering dates between 8/25-12/22:confused3

Yes. Very unbelievable. I don't know where all of you are from. I hope all of you are safe.

Those poor kids, it's heartbreaking.

I have some friends on FB who always say about how much they love storms. I always think, how can you say that when they cause so many people such devastation. I hope everyone not accounted for is found alive and well.

This is all I can think about. Those poor kids. I hope that they are found alive and well.

Reporting that the school has went from being a rescue mission to a recovery mission. Saying around two dozen children didn't survive. Heartbreaking.

It just makes you appreciate your children even more...my heart goes out to the families who have lost their precious babies <3

There's a difference between loving storms and what they cause.

I know. I'm certainly considering it. My only hang up is getting my tickets early. And I know that every post on here says that it's no problem to pick tix up early, but we have firm plans at MK on 9/1 and we have to go that day. On the 1% chance that I can't get my tix early, the. I'll have to buy a 1 day park admission for 2 adults and 2 kids which would be awful. I've estimated it out and, with my room discount that I would lose with the FD, we would save about $300. I'm not sure it's worth the risk.....???

I am speechless. I have been unplugged all day except for Dis and email and thank heaven for you guys! I had no idea what happened in OK! Just went to CNN and found out and my heart breaks for those families.

My boyfriend and I are planning on going September 20-25. We are debating between GF and WL. We are so excited! We just returned from our first trip together (his first time to WDW, my fourth) two weeks ago and we are annual passholders. So I know there are no additional discounts for us. Question: does the hard ticket for MNSSHP count as the two tickets needed to get the dining plan upgrade?
