Free Dining 2013 Part 2 ~ The Sequel

I can't tell you how many times people have posted that they didn't book the BB while they were there and tried to book it after they got home. They are always told that it is not possible. That's why I always suggest calling ext. 8844 before you leave even if you don't see any offer in your room or welcome packet. Once you check out, you are out of luck.

And all I know is a co-worker went last year, "FORGOT" to book their BB and were given a "grace period" if you will and will be going back this year, Jersey week with FD.....

All rules can be broken or changed is my only statement.

There was no 2012 FD bounceback offer that included dates in November 2013. :confused3

Her stay was in October and staying into November.

There wasn't one for October 2013 dates either. The only 2013 dates that were offered FD in a BB last year were in Aug and Sept. If you mean her stay last year was in late October into November, then I can say with absolute certainty that the only bounceback offered at that time was the Aug/Sept FD bounceback. I was there Oct. 26-Nov. 4. :goodvibes

Well as I said....rules can be broken and changed. She definitely has a bounce back booked.

I believe both points are valid and true. Yes, on paper the BB's state a specific time period and have to be booked before leaving property. However, if you contact them before you leave and have extenuating circumstances, they have given people grace periods when booking BB's. And as a poster stated yesterday, you can always rebook a BB, and depending on availability, they will let you have several choices throughout the year. :thumbsup2

Received PIN code May 15, but by the time we went to book the other day no Value left and only Cabins available in Moderate. Not sure how anyone getting these new issue of PIN codes are going to be able to utilize!

So true. I think the only reason my sister and I were allowed to book the BB after we got home was because we tried to book while we were there and had to hang up or we would have missed ME (ours was not free dining BB it was room discount). I almost didn't call thinking they would not allow it but the next morning I decided I had nothing to lose. I explained our circumstances. They put me on hold a bit then transferred me & I was allowed to book. I immediately called my sister & she called and they allowed her to book. I suspect they could check (and maybe did) and know that we had made contact before leaving the resort.

All rooms will be offered the bounceback if one is available, but there will be exclusions as to what you can book with it (like no LM rooms at AoA, for example). Also, many times they do not list the values as being included in the offer, but when you call to book, you will find that they are included, so always ask before you think you can't use it.

People may get pixie dusted with some other type offer, but a BB is set in stone. You cannot book it unless you are a current guest, and the dates cannot be outside of the offer to use it (other than your trip extending past the end of an eligible discount like checking in on the last FD date). This is a completely different situation than using someone else's PIN to get a deal.

I guess we were the exception to the rule then. We were very lucky and were able to book a Bounceback offer a few days after getting home from our trip.

I can't remember which year it was now but it was that first year that they started offering the Bounceback while already booked with Free Dining. We didn't realize that you couldn't book the offer in person at the front desk with cash and because we don't use credit cards much, weren't able to book over the phone and pay the deposit. So once home, we called a few days later and the CM booked it for us with no problem.

I assume my husband must have called the regular WDW reservation line since I only know of the 4 digit phone number and spoke to a supervisor who worked some kind of magic. :wizard: All I know is we had Free Dining booked for the September of the next year.

Yep my thoughts exactly. The pin my mother got had very limited selections left. I wouldn't have been able to put it to use even if I could use it.

My previous comments are about the current procedure. They have really cracked down on it in the last couple of years. It doesn't surprise me that they allowed it years ago. :goodvibes Regardless of whether you can get pixie dusted after you return home or not, it is never a guarantee that they will honor anything once you check out, so it is always best to call ext. 8844 prior to checking out to see what the offer is. Don't ask at the front desk. They give out incorrect info often. Remember that you can always cancel a BB, so even if you are not certain you could make the trip, book it if there is the slightest chance you can.

Our trip last year was 11/28 - 12/3 the BB in our room was for FD when we arrived which ended before the dates we were interested in for 2013. Fast Fwd we were Sick Dec 1&2 never rec'd Mousekeeping and checked out on 12/3.

Upon arriving home I found out the BB changed to room dscount for the entire 2013 year on 12/1 which is what we wanted.

After reading these posts I wish I had called anyway and maybe due to circumstances they would have let me book.

So, are the front desk CMs trained by the reservation CMs or vice versa? :lmao:

Just received this in email. Not sure if this person really knows anything. No offense to them!

Dave runs a good site. Always good info there. Plus you can never have too much Disney world information.

And it looks like he's thinking no GP free dining :worried:

On a positive spin; actually he was forecasting no GP free dining after September, prior to this new forecast. So really, things are looking up for a possible new (fresh start) PIN release and/or GP free dining.:thumbsup2

Edit: Just a note- His site is so much more than this article, and this article is just his own opinion; however he does apply the scientific principles of his day job and applies them to Disney. And just so no one goes into full panic mode, he has been saying no free dining after September before that promo was even leaked. So, for him to say that GP free dining after Sept is even a possibility is encouraging news.
