Free Dining 2013 Part 2 ~ The Sequel

If you have your vacation booked and you receive a pin At a later date they will modify your reservation. Just keep calling it can change a matter minutes

1. For anyone that has gotten pin codes for this December so far, What dates are they for? My daughter has a cross country championship race that is the first week in December.

2. If I call and don't have a pin attached to my name. Is is wise to book a trip for the dates I want now and then if fd comes out will they just change my booking? Or should I just wait for the dates to be released (if they offer fd of course lol) and try to get what I want?

3. Can anyone tell me from past experience (during fd) if it is cheaper to go with a value and upgrade to the dining plan with one sit down meal and one counter service. Or to go with a moderate hotel that already has the one table service/one counter service. (there will be 1 {maybe 2 adults, not sure if my 22 yr old will be available to travel with us} and age 11 and 9) don't know if this matters.

Keeping my fingers crossed like everyone else that the free dining Gods smile down on me and my kids lol

Booking now or later really does not make a whole lot of difference, more personal preference. If you do decide to book now and FD does become available later to the general public, then you will have to call Disney and have it applied to your reservation if you book a Magic Your Way Package with at least two days worth of park tickets. Disney will NOT automatically apply any discounts/offers, etc. If you have a room only reservation and FD becomes available, that reservation will have to be cancelled and booked as a MYW pkg.

OK, this last one is more of a numbers game. We always stay at a value and upgrade to the basic(plus) dining option. Are the kids ages the age they will be at time of travel? In the eyes of Disney, when a child turns 10 they are considered an adult. I believe the cost to upgrade this year is around $18/day for adults and around $3/day for children plus some change. (Sorry, I can't find my exact #'s at this second, was going through plans today and papers are everywhere!) To find the cost of a moderate, just price the resort with the number of ticket days as a package and that would be the price for free dining. We have a larger family so for us it is cheaper to stay value, but for many others the price is the same or just a bit more expensive to stay at a moderate. ;)

Phew!! If I left anything out or something needs more clarification, please feel free to chime in and help figment301 and I out, please.:confused3

Called back again and they told me I did not have a pin, but granted me one to right the cm's mistake. So for the $900 savings I switched hotels, the only drawback is that we have to stay at POP, which is where we stayed last time.

OK, I have been doin' a lot of pixie dustin' and Mickey shakin'. I have no clue why people were looking at me so strangely at the grocery store. Isn't this the universal Free Dining dance of luck?:confused3

Well should I call or not call, that is the question. I called Thursday and checked on mine and my daughters nothing. I hate the disappointment when they tell me no.

Call! Be persistant :)

This question Isn't about fd but I respect this groups advice, if Someone's going to Disney as a gift to celebrate their 50th birthday, Should they wear their birthday pin for one day or for their whole trip.? Just wondering what others do

Whole trip :) we celebrated my DS's bday last year and he wore his pin every day.

That is wonderful. Congrats!!!! Well worth the aggravation I would say. :)

Kinda makes me wish I would get a rude cm just so I can call back to complain. It may be the only way I could get fd:lmao:

I have never had a pin,, how does it work? If you already have a vacation booked will your pin be able to be used for that trip?

Is the pin for just qs meals or is it for the meal plan you have already booked?

Simply put, PINs are what are sent out by Disney Destinations in the form of email or snail mail and who they are sent to is VERY random and are specific to the person who receives it. However, not all PINs are received and they can be attached to your Disney account without you knowing it and they can be added to your account at any time. Hence, the reason we are all calling. If you do get a PIN and you have a vacation already booked you can apply it IF your day of check in falls within the stated dates offered. The dining plan depends on the resort level you will be staying at. Usually QS for Values and Basic/Plus for mods and deluxe.;)

I am so frustrated that I keep calling & getting told no that I just want to cancel my reservation & go somewhere else  I can afford to pay rack rate but why should I when the person in the next room isn't? Anyone else feel this way?
