Free Dining 2008 Watch

You keep saying this.... but I have last years OFFICIAL FREE DINING WATCH and it was stillllllllllllllllllllll speculation!!!!!! yeah the dates we were told way back on March 16th were the ones the were true, but NO ONE KNEW FOR SURE!!! It wasn't until AFTER APRIL 1st that MORE reliable rumors started hitting. Plus NOTHING official was said until the day it was released! This year we have a good rumor that tells us release dates, but not on the dates for the stay.

Read last years thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1388457

Your right, However it could be with all the promos September is pretty full.
Last weeki when I caled for September reservations 3 of my ADR's were hard to get.....
Also consider that there have been other promos like the mailed codes offered for August September that are being used.
Nothing says there has to be a public offering if they are almost full. I think alot of speculators booking early hoping for free DDP might also hurt. Even them knowing some will cancell the numbers could still be high!
After all this I still wonder why the rumors just aren't there ?????

GOOD LUCK TO ALL :thumbsup2

Mickey2000- Don't worry to much, if you want free dining, it will be available. Let the people who want to get excited, get excited! It almost seems as though you are trying to dampen everyone's excitement? Me, for one happen to know, with almost a certainty that free dining will be offered. I hope everyone gets the dates, and resort they desire. Good luck to all you free dining bookers! Especially my nice friend Shhhq!:grouphug:

I've seen it mentioned several times here that people have called for their ADRs and had a tough time getting what I want. I only had to budge on one of the times for my ADRs and that was Tutto...and I think that's just because it's new. I got into CRT for lunch absolutely no problem. We're going to be there the end of Sept. Maybe it's the restaurants and days that they tried to book that's the actual problem...oh and the majority of my times for meals were at the actual mealtime (ie 12 for lunch and between 5:30-6:00 for dinner).

From the 2007 thread it looks like it was officially announced on Monday April 1st at 4:15 pm Central Time. If history holds true, then as early as late this afternoon (Monday March 31st) you may be able to book. If they go by date (not day of the week, which is generally not the Disney Way) then it'd be late in the day tomorrow.

However in reviewing the thread it was announced on Sunday by a source that said "All I can say is wait until Monday afternoon" We're missing such teasers today.

ETA - Corrected - that was just a teaser in the thread. Still reading for an official Free Dining siting :)

I just call and got all my ADR expect of one Liberty tree on Sept 23. I did have to move chef mickeys to a different day to get the time I wanted but that is it. All my ADR were for perk dining times. I told the lady I was surprised to get the time I wanted and she said almost everything was still easy to get into. Still hoping for free dining

I know this may be a silly question but do you have to have your trip booked to make your ADR's? I'm assuming you have to have a reservation # or something when you call, right?

We are planning our first trip for fall and I've been waiting on the free DDP announcement and haven't done anything so far other then figure out where we want to eat.

Is there anything I should or can be doing before we find out?

Just finished booking our WDW vacation for Sept 5th-12th and the CM had a few interesting comments. First, she was able to confirm to me that the MNSSHP dates posted on DIS boards are correct. Which is good because we plan on going Sept 9th!

Second, Free Dining WILL be offered very soon. She would not comment on the exact dates however did say that when Free Dining comes out we can simply have that promo applied to our trip.

How much is the dining package worth for an adult. I'm just wondering how much you would save? There would be two adults.

no you can book it by your home phone number.

Can anyone answer this for me, I do not have a Disney Visa but my sister does, if fddp is offered to Visa holders first, can she book for me with her card?

The dining plan is about $40 per day per adult.....

If free dining is offered we will save $1430.00!!! (3 adults and 1 child for 11 nights) :cool1:

I sure do hope that it will be offered....:woohoo:

Thank you for posting this. Has anyone started calling Visa to inquire about this for this year?

I would also like to know....:) I never thought to call and ask them , they may be more reliable than some CM's I have talked with.

so im now thinking if booking for disney doesnt happen until april 7th then we wont know until april 5th. but i really do feel like it will happen...and i cannot get anyone to say wether or not they have stayed at por during free dining...what gives ppl?

We stayed at POR in 2006 for Free Dining! We sort of have to - family of 5 and I don't want to spring for two Value rooms and can't afford Deluxe. But turns out we love POR anyway; it's a really nice resort and very quiet.

ETA: did anyone else read the headline at the top of the DIS Boards re: Universal offering their own version of Free Dining?! It's not as good as Disney's, to be sure, but the dates they are offering it are smack during Disney's historical FD dates!! To me that only bodes well for those of us waiting to see "if" !!
