Free Diners: Watch the Trip Insurance!

Evidently Disney is "throwing in" the Trip Insurance into the bookings - as though you have to have it. And they are adding the cost to the reservation almost like it is expected that you purchase it from Disney.

If you recieved it today when you called and don't want it, you can call and cancel it within 14 days of the day you purchased it.

After the 14 days you will have to pay a penalty.

It may be a good idea to have the trip insurance - since it is hurricane season - but there are other companies out there that offer more coverage for less money.

I am disappointed that some Disney CM's are adding to the package without really asking if the caller wants it.

This is a recurring theme on the Free Dining threads I am reading on the internet!

Enjoy the FREE DINING! But make sure they don't decrease the value of it by making you buy something you may not really want.

Just listen carefully after they give you the price... they should give you a breakdown of what is included in the package, room for # of nights, tickets, etc... the last thing that is mentions is the vacation protection... at that point just say that you do not want the coverage and it is removed.

They do this every time I call to make a reservation. I always have to tell them to take it off.

They have never done that to me...maybe because I usually book Room Only? I have an AP - I just noticed a lot of people mentioning that they didn't even really tell them and they were going to have to call back.

They have always done this for me, they've even added it when I've changed a reservation. I just remind them very clearly that I am declining the trip insurance.

It is their standard practice to add in the insurance unless you specifically ask them not to.
