LOL - Why does the package go from $6,000 for a family of 5 up to over $10,000 after I go from a standard to free dinging package for the end of September?

Probably because the room category associated with the FD package is more expensive than the room category that is available at the standard rack rate.

You might be getting the late summer room discount or package with the $6000 rate. FD is at rack rate, the dining plan is the discount.

Also might be a different room category as stated above. FD is not always the best discount.

I have never found free dining to be a better deal than a room only discount- even after you add the tickets.

This promotion has been available now for almost 2 and a half months now. There's only slim pickings left for fd now. Mostly overpriced rack room Deluxes. That's why there is availability at all.
