during what year did the free DDP begin?
has it run every year since for use in Sept?

It was first offered in 2005 for dates 8/21 to 10/4.

It has been offered every year since, but the time window has been narrowing.

The bounceback offer for 2008 was from 8/30 to 9/27.

The window keeps narrowing and the crowds keep growing! It was packed this year during the week of Sept. 14 - 21. When you combine the terrible crowds and the blinding heat, you get our first and last trip for free dining.

We go at the VERY end, into October, so the crowds aren't as bad as the weather a bit better. We always went in Oct and try to take advantage of free dining, we are bouncing back.
Next ? does anyone know when the Wine & Food Festival started? Hubby and I think we have been doing it since the late 90's but are not sure?

between that and free dining the crowds that time of year have really increased, but still not as bad as some summers when we have been....

When we went this year, during free dining, we went near the end, and the Food and Wine Festival was going on for the whole trip.

This year my trip starts on 9/21, and I have the deluxe plan which I got during the bounce-back promo, and the Food and Wine Festival starts on 9/26 so I'll be there for the first week of the Festival.

Did they let you do that for 2008? I am curious because (even after working with three different people about this while scheduling our bounceback in September) we were told it ended in September and could not be extended past the ending date, the 27th was the very last day it was valid for (we wanted to do the last full week of September and first of October but were told the free dining could not be scheduled that way anymore). We then ended up scheduling the 14th - 27th instead but I am not exactly thrilled with the dates... but at least the food is free! :goodvibes

My trip is 9/21 - 10/3, and I have the discounted deluxe plan for the whole trip.

ours is the last day of free dining for two weeks out all with free dining. I have made a change (from 26th to 27th arriving) and still got the free DDP.
Call back, SAY NOTHING about if you can or can't and try to book switching to the first day being the 27th... it never hurts to try!
Good Luck

:goodvibes Thanks! :goodvibes

I am going to try calling back and putting our dates back then... what is the worst that can happen (they have already said no three times)! :rotfl:

We are doing bounce back Sept 20-27 at POFQ. :cool1: Character meals, here we come! We'll probably use all of our TS on character meals. With our kids, it's SO much better than waiting in lines!

If you don't mind my asking, what did you have to pay for the discounted deluxe plan? I am currently just booked for the regular DP, and would love to upgrade if its not to expensive!!

let us know how you make out. If they say no, I will research the number I called and pm it to you... I had a different number to call than some I had seen posted

last yr (for 2007) when booking, I had someone tell me the same thing, called back, got someone else booked it strating in FDD, but ending out of FDD and got it for the whole thing.

we do quite a few of those ourselves
my kids love the play @ dine at hollywood & vine with the little einsteins and JoJo's circus... at MGM buffett
we also do LTT before a mickeys NSSH... you will probably be there for a couple of those nights, the charcters dress up and my kids LOVED that too! they bring a pre determined meal.. it wasn't bad, Thanksgiving fare, dont' forget to ask for the cranbery sauce, they have it!
even if you don't stay for MNSSH, We booked our dinner at 4:30 and there were still regular admission park people going in. (Magic Kingdom)
harvest grill is not as great as it used to be, they also like Chef Mickeys, buffet, Contemporary and Ohana's, they bring you a breakfast platter you all share, Polynesian...
Have fun...

I believe it is $32 a night per adult. It was $1,800 total for a 12-night stay.

I'm going to do some character meals as well, even though I'm an adult and going solo. I'm planning on going to CP, Akershus, the new Donald's breakfast, and CRT breakfast, which I would never pay for OOP, but since I have the deluxe plan, I don't feel like I'm spending tons going there.
